Hupac Group Intermodal Forum: „Together against the “reversed modal-shift”! 🔝💪 ELP recently participated in the Hupac Group Intermodal Forum in Lugano, discussing "Transforming Intermodal Transport: Innovations for the Future of Logistics." The event was extremely informative, featuring great speakers and panels eager to reshape the future of rail freight. We emphasize the input from Peter Füglistaler, Director of the Swiss Federal Office of Transport: “We want to give rail freight the chance to become sustainably profitable. Switzerland has invested heavily in projects like the Lötschberg, Gotthard, and Ceneri base tunnels, the 4-metre corridor, and expanding terminal capacities. These initiatives position Switzerland as a role model for Europe in supporting the modal shift.” As a Swiss company, we strive to enhance the modal shift from road to rail and are proud to contribute to the “Swiss Benchmark.” Our locomotives support this transformation by offering up to 50% more tractive effort, enabling longer and heavier freight trains to operate more efficiently. 👏 European Loc Pool "Passion for Traction" #railways #freight #innovation #sustainability #cargo

Ready for Keeper’s summit 2024? Gianluca Tomei, Technical Director of Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Italia, will be one of the speakers in the panel dedicated to DAC during Keeper’s summit 2024 organized by International Union of Wagon Keepers (UIP) and ASSOFERR. Under the Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking initiative, Knorr-Bremse is working to perfect the enabler for digital rail freight, the Digital Automatic Coupler (DAC Type 5), as well as a package of smart solutions for interoperable, automated digital freight trains. The EU Green Deal aims to triple European rail freight traffic by 2050 – a goal that can only be achieved by making rail freight faster and more flexible. Digitalization has the greatest potential both for streamlining labor-intensive train preparation processes and for managing and operating trains. #weareknorrbremse #railways
Countdown ⏰ to our UIP Keepers’ Summit event on 30 May! 😎 On the programme: how to rise to the #DAC challenge ! We talk about what bringing #automation and #digitalization to #railfreight operations means and entails: 🔎 how rail freight can become seriously competitive and how the DAC technology makes this possible, 🔎 how to ensure a high quality infrastructure, without which DAC trains cannot realize their full potential, 🔎 who will/can finance this endeavour We are looking forward to our participants joining us from the rail freight sector, politics and EU institutions! #RailFreightWagons #KeepersSummit2024 #DareToInnovate We also thank the Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti (Italian Ministry for Transport) for their patronage of our event and our sponsors: ASSOFERR, Wabtec Corporation, ERMEWA SA, VTG, Touax Global Rail Services , Lucchini SA, Knorr-Bremse Rail Vehicle Systems, ChemOil Logistics AG, LOTRAS SRL, COSMEF WM S.R.L., Interporto Bologna SpA, ORR

Unlocking the potential of combined rail-road transport for a sustainable and efficient freight system! 🚂🚚 Our recent research takes a deep dive into the intricacies of combined transport by assessing its regulatory, infrastructural, organizational, and technical aspects. A subset of 27 practical measures for improvement have been identified through a Delphi study and in combination with insights from research of the past decade, we've crafted a practice-oriented research agenda. Key aspects of the agenda include the assessment of sustainability policies, digital platforms, seamless cross-border traffic, human factor in transport, changing terminal roles and technological developments in rail transport. With the help of our agenda, we aim to set course for further impactful research. 💼🌍 Read Michael Gleser’s and my most recent publication "Combined rail-road transport in Europe – A practice-oriented research agenda" in Research in Transportation Business and Management (RTBM). Access the publication now: https://lnkd.in/eNT8rud3 A big thank you to all interview partners who participated in the Delphi study and helped to realize this publication! Intermodal expansion: does it pay to be sustainable? Discussions about development of our intermodal business at #LTGCargo has been a top priority in recent weeks. Our current focus stays on developing our Klaipeda-Kaunas and Kaunas-Duisburg routes, which we already operate. As Europe strives to achieve green course goals by 2030, stricter regulations at EU and national levels are crucial for shifting freight from road to rail. At the moment we are witnessing a reverse process, comparing 2022 and 2023 results of H1 10 percent drop of combined transport amounts is noticeable. The recent UIRR (International Union for Rail-Road Combined Transport) Nordic Seminar provided an excellent platform to discuss the challenges of combined transport in Nordic countries, to exchange knowledge and connect with industry peers. Key takeaways from the seminar: Regulatory Updates: Staying informed about EU regulations is essential for navigating the intermodal landscape. Market Insights: Understanding the Scandinavian market is crucial for identifying growth opportunities. Industry Collaboration: Strengthening partnerships within the intermodal community is key to achieving shared goals. Capacity Regulation: Addressing capacity constraints is essential for efficient operations. CO2 Certification: Promoting EU-level CO2 certification to incentivize combined transport. eFTI Implementation: Exploring the benefits of eFTI for improved efficiency and paper reduction. By focusing on these areas, we can drive the growth of our intermodal business and contribute to a more sustainable future, but do we all think the same way? Big thanks Ralf-Charley Schultze for this event and opportunity to meet! #intermodal #logistics #sustainability #rail #transport #EU #regulation
