Hey LinkedIn, I’ve been noticing a pattern that seems to be causing confusion in job postings lately—many jobs are labeled as "remote," but in reality, they’re not fully remote. I think it's time for a little more transparency and clarity. Here’s an idea: let’s categorize remote job listings more effectively, to make things easier for both job seekers and recruiters: On-Site Hybrid Locally-Remote Fully-Remote For example, when I see a listing for "Remote (Denver, CO)," it’s clear you still need to be in Denver. That’s not truly remote, yet it often gets lumped into the remote category. These distinctions could help filter through the noise. With hundreds of applicants flooding in the moment a job is posted, a little more structure might make a big difference! Maybe more categories could be helpful, or even just more honesty in the listings. Job seekers are facing enough uncertainty—let’s make the search process more efficient and clear. 🤔 Remote vs. Hybrid: Why the Confusion? 🤔 Am I the only one frustrated by job postings labeled "remote" that end up being "hybrid" once you’re in the interview? As an HR professional, I understand the need to attract a large pool of candidates, but confusing candidates with misleading terms is counterproductive for everyone involved. 🔹 Remote should mean 100% from home, while Hybrid implies a mix of office and home. They’re not the same thing! Candidates rely on clear information to make informed career decisions. Misleading terms not only waste candidates’ time but also create frustration and erode trust in the hiring process. To recruiters and hiring managers: Please be clear and intentional with these labels! If the role requires time in the office, label it as hybrid from the start. We all benefit when candidates understand the role requirements upfront. Lately, I’ve been seeing way too many job postings labeled “remote” only to find out in the job description that it’s actually on-site. Why bother giving me false hope? Just say it’s on-site and save us all some time! And then there’s the classic: remote/on-site. Excuse me, what? Are we working from the office or sending emails from the moon? 😆 (Hint: that’s called hybrid.) Is it really that hard to get the terminology right?
