Our Portland office recently served at the Portland Food Project. Every two months, neighborhood coordinators from the Portland Food Project collect bags of healthy, nonperishable food donated by community members. Our Coffman team met at the food collection center to help receive the food, weigh it, and load it up for delivery to numerous local food banks. Special thanks to Kerrianne Stewart and Kevin Cline for spearheading the Portland Coffman Community Impact Initiative (CCII) and making this happen. We’re proud to support the Portland Food Project through both our volunteer efforts and a $1,000 donation.

Paying it forward
Wakefern Food Corp. has always been equal parts heart ❤️ and ambition. So, with the close of the successful 2024 Wakefern Showcase, we were proud to partner with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and donate nearly four trucks of fresh foods and groceries from the Showcase supermarket displays. These donated items will help as many as 20,000 families in our region. Thanks to all the team members who volunteered to pack and load – and to the CFBNJ for their ongoing commitment and creativity in the fight against hunger.

Last week, Alton’s New York office took part in our Pledge 1% volunteer day initiative, once again teaming up with West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH) in Manhattan to help alleviate hunger in the city. WSCAH’s crucial work ensures all New Yorkers have access with dignity to a choice of healthy food and support services. In support of the organization’s community-focused mission, the Alton team helped prepare 1,490 bags of fresh or shelf-stable food to serve more than 600 families in New York. Each year Alton supports Pledge 1% https://lnkd.in/eW_ANjH, where we not only donate 1% of our revenue, but also 1% of our time to charitable causes. Please join us in helping West Side Campaign Against Hunger with its impactful work by donating here: https://lnkd.in/d3eDAKJ #community #socialresponsibility #corporatecitizenship #givingback #WSCAH #Pledge1%

Say, for example, that a donor had a pot P to donate annually to eight similar charities. She could measure their performance based on x interventions costing y annually (the formula is more complicated, this is a simple example). By applying Markovitz Theory of Portfolio Selection she could allocate P among the eight charities according to the Markowitz calculated coefficients efficiently in order to maximize her personal charitable giving utility. The risk-return element is part of the formula. Am I on to something or barking up the wrong endangered tree forest? Answers welcome on an e-postcard.

MICRO PHILANTHROPY is bringing in $1.5 million this year to StreetSmart Australia - small micro donations ($2 - $15). It works. People often think philanthropy is high-net worth family trusts donating large sums of money to social charities, health systems and the environment , but what they don't realise is - everyone can be a philanthropist. Many friends of mine still struggle to articulate the word 'Philanthropy', let alone grasp the concept about 'Micro-philanthropy'. This is why this year, StreetSmart are bringing about awareness of how small micro donations that are pooled collectively with others, can generate incredible large scale impact. The world and the communities we live in need more micro philanthropy. It's cool. It's a good thing. As always, a CTA link provided - https://lnkd.in/gw2P7t2

For years we have been advocating that Foreign Currency Fundraising works. All it takes is a single coin to help your neighbours! As mentioned by CanadaHelps and Food Banks Mississauga, a donation of a single dollar can provide a meal. That means that a single coin from so many different countries would provide one meal (or more): €1.00 or €2.00 (EUR - Euro) £1.00 or £2.00 (GBP - British Pound) 1.00fr or 2.00fr or 5.00fr (CHF - Swiss Franc) $10.00 (HKD - Hong Kong Dollar) $2.00 (AUD - Australian Dollar) ¥500 (Yen - Japanese Yen) $1.00 (USD - United States Dollar) $2.00 (NZD - New Zealand Dollar) The next time you are looking for a way to help but aren't sure how, consider your leftover foreign currency / holiday travel money. Put together an employee drive at work, tell your friends and family and put together a larger collection, or host a party and ask everyone to bring their leftover foreign cash; talk about the great times you had where the money came from. You can't use it to buy groceries for yourself, but you could use it to ensure your neighbours / friends / family don't go hungry. Any Currency, Any Amount #AllCurrencyAccepted Daily Bread Food Bank Ottawa Food Bank Calgary Food Bank Edmonton's Food Bank Greater Vancouver Food Bank Food Banks of Quebec Food Bank On Wheels Society The Food Bank of Waterloo Region Feed the Need in Durham Feed Ontario Food Banks Canada | Banques alimentaires Canada Second Harvest Scarborough Food Security Initiative Food First NL Kawartha Lakes Food Source North York Harvest Food Bank The Salvation Army in Canada The Salvation Army
“At Food Banks Mississauga, when you donate a single dollar, your donation can provide a single meal and that really multiplies your impact.” Thank you, Nicole Danesi from CanadaHelps for sharing the need for monetary donations to food banks like ours as we continue to see more neighbours in need of food support. Nicole's right - your dollars allows us to provide MORE food that includes culturally-appropriate and fresh food. What does your company do for your team?
Trilogy’s quality care begins with taking care of our employees in times of good and in times of need…and that’s why the Trilogy Health Services Foundation is such an important part of what we do. The mission of the Trilogy Health Services Foundation is to improve the lives of Trilogy Health Services employees so that they may reach their full potential through education, financial stability, and healthy living, which creates memorable moments for our residents. And right now, The Trilogy Health Services Foundation is running its annual Knock Out Hunger through Careshelf food drive until July 31st. This program raises donations and food items that go directly towards the Foundation’s Careshelf Program, assisting Trilogy employees who are experiencing food insecurity.
