A college degree is still a good investment!

Yes. It. Is. But with how much it costs it doesn’t make as much sense for too many students. And now polis is trying to limit how much it’s increasing and schools are fighting that. I would love to sit down with Jared Polis - he is doing good things and I’ve seen how much budgets at schools are “out of whack” which by definition means NOT WORKING PROPERLY. Make schools evaluate their budgets. They can make it happen for the 2% cap increase proposed. College and university leadership are spending too much in too many places that students don’t want or use. They spend too much on higher up positions and not enough on staffing for front lines. Colleges and universities need more “executers” (see strengths) - your executers are the ones who make things happen. If you’re going to be brainstorming find how you can bring those ideas to fruition!!! College needs to be affordable for it to be worth it! Students are drowning in debt and can’t afford it - yet, studies show that those who participate in education are stronger in creating a better civilization…. And pricing people out of education explains why our world is absolutely a mess right now. You can’t even get on an airplane without someone behaving badly. You learn much more than just math and English when you pursue higher education - you learn how to manage your time, be around others, respect policies and expectations …. You learn human skills too! Really interesting report from the College Futures Foundation. They measured the return on investment for low and middle income students for postsecondary institutions in the state of California. The attachment from their shows a number of institutions where students never will realize an ROI. And there are a few more where the ROI paid off between 150 - 200+ years. Every state should publish information like this to assist advisors and families in making good decisions.
