iDAC Expo, short for Infrastructure, Development, Architecture, and Construction, is a bustling hub organized by NEC (Nova Exhibition and Conferences) where the construction industry’s big players gather to showcase their best. It’s not just any expo; it’s an opportunity playground for architects, designers, and consultants alike. Here, they can mingle and network with key partners from various fields—think furniture, lighting, building automation systems, doors, windows, facades, flooring materials, wall coverings, upholstery, and decorative products, all neatly packed under one roof. For us at Narrative Arc, wandering through IDAC was like embarking on a journey of discovery. We met potential collaborators around every corner, sparking ideas and forging connections for our upcoming project. The Industrial Facility Santo Tirso in Portugal, the winning project in the Working category of the WORLD ARCHITECTURE AWARD WATA Edition 2022. This facility, dedicated to producing aeronautical components, consists of two autonomous blocks of equal height. The first is a large industrial warehouse, while the second is a three-story social and administrative area. The main elevation features a prefabricated concrete panel, creating a cohesive look. Dynamic design elements include formally ordered sheets and a play of solids and voids, allowing for flexible lighting. The aluminium curtain wall enhances the reticular rhythm of the facade, contributing to the building's innovative and clean design. Inside, the triple-height lobby with a suspended staircase exemplifies the harmony between rhythm, light, and scale. Our goal was to highlight the architectural details and give versatility to this large multi-purpose room. We aimed to distribute our lighting effectively to cater to any use of the space. 💡 WHY THEY CHOOSE VONN We pay attention to the little details to ensure good lighting, especially in big spaces. 🏢 WHY LED LIGHTING LED lighting is a game-changer with a lifespan twenty times longer than traditional lighting. The high-performance battery pack has been carefully selected to meet our strict criteria in terms of overall quality, charging cycles, life span, environmental aspects, etc. It is easy to replace via the hatch on the bottom of the luminaire. Fully charged, w241 Faro’s battery lasts for 7.5–20 hours, depending on the chosen light level. Once the power cord is attached, it then recharges within 4 hours. A colour-coded indicator on the bottom of the luminaire shows the remaining battery capacity at a glance. w241 Faro is now available. Developed in collaboration with David Chipperfield.
