Bayswater Power Station achieved a major milestone recently with the successful completion of our first two-shift trial. The process of two-shifting, which involves taking a unit offline and bringing it back online within a twelve-hour period, was executed with remarkable precision on Unit #4. Our team desynchronized 20 seconds ahead of the 10am target and resynchronized within 50 seconds of the 3pm target. This level of precision on our first attempt is extraordinary and sets a new benchmark for our operations. Our Head of Generation and Revenue Christopher d'Hotman and Head of Engineering and Projects Michael Musca visited Ratcliffe Power Station in England last October to gather insights on flexible operations and their insights gave us the confidence to explore two-shifting capabilities here at Bayswater. After months of pre-testing, simulation training, and detailed planning supervised by our Performance and Flexible Operations Manager George Hague, this trial succeeded. It enables us to maximise our market involvement during peak times and avoid low-price periods. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and expertise of Bayswater's teams. Our operators performed flawlessly, maintenance teams ensured system availability, and our performance and engineering teams provided crucial support. While it is early days and much remains to be evaluated from this first trial, we are ready to test again and continue learning as market conditions allow. Looking forward to refining our processes and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in flexible operations! #Energy #Innovation #Teamwork #BayswaterPowerStation

Sr. VP, Global Head of Prologis Energy. On a mission to Build 1 GW of onsite Solar and Storage in urban cities globally by 2025.
Happy New Year and what a great start to 2024 with Governor Phil Murphy signing A4782/S3123 yesterday to further strengthen New Jersey’s #communitysolar program – expanding access to #cleanenergy and #loweringutilitycosts for New Jersey households. The Community Solar Energy Program (#CSEP) allows individuals without the ability to install solar on their rooftops to access the benefits of #solarenergy, including significant energy savings. This bill simplifies the CSEP application process, provides CSEP subscribers with a more seamless consolidated energy bill, and makes more capacity available to develop community solar across the state. At Prologis Energy, we have already installed Solar on ~1/3rd of our New Jersey buildings and have the potential to install several hundred MWs more in NJ to serve our #customers and #communities while creating local jobs that support the state's economy. We are committed to installing 1 GW of onsite solar and storage globally by 2025. https://lnkd.in/gnCQsv2u

For the second time in as many months, the power delivery system in Houston—the fourth largest city in the US and the so-called Energy Capital of the World—is brought to its knees by a relatively minor storm... despite the average power customer being at least 50 miles inland. But, yeah, let's go ahead and electrify everything. We went through the storm. As these things go, it was relatively small in size and short in duration. We've driven around much of the city since. We were born and raised here, and know what the city and streets look like when a major storm hits. This wasn't it. No way over 2.5 million households and businesses should be without power right now. Meanwhile, drive in certain more affluent neighborhoods in the city right now, and you'll be greeted by a chorus of privately owned backup generators—all expensively, but successfully, humming away. And they are all powered by... you guessed it... petroleum products. In less affluent neighborhoods, there's no such harmonizing hums. The lesson? If you want to create a world of haves and have-nots, hand your power system management over to a bunch of virtue-signalling dilettantes and let them start jacking around with things. And be sure they keep a focus on making sure Earth's temps in 75 years remain below some arbitrary limit—not on making sure the current system works. You'll start to see the inequalities sprouting before you know it. To be clear, the effects of creeping infrastructure rot and steady policy incompetence we've seen at the power generation level in Texas are now evident on the transmission and distribution side of the grid. Alas, the state now loudly projects a culture of non-perpeformance... or maybe just not caring... across its once widely admired power sector. Well done, Texas leadership. Well done. ⚡🤦 #beryl #texas #Houston
