Your company should join your local chamber. (Very low 💵 fees) 2. Your company should support the local chamber. (Sponsor events etc) 2. You should look to add value to your business community. (Not sell) 3) As you are adding that value, you might make some friends 🤝 along the way (scratch that, you WILL) 4. You might even just get some 💰business from it. (But only after you do what? Yep, add value) BIG NEWS!!! 🥳 RevLocal’s corporate office is moving from Granville to Westerville! Guess who that means you will be seeing more of? So sorry! But seriously, I can’t wait. Great local networking session at Plumpton Racecourse last night with the Haywards Heath Business Association, despite having to brave the storms to get there! 🌧️ After stepping back from networking last year due to life events, it feels amazing to reconnect with my local business community. It’s good to be back. 🙂 Working from home can be pretty isolated - full of video calls and emails. These events remind you of the value of face-to-face interactions, and you also get to explore some fantastic local venues! While I’m not there to sell my services (though that can be a nice side-effect), it’s really about meeting new people and feeling part of the community. 🥰 Plus there is a lot of support out there for local businesses which you might not find out about without your local business association. We had a great introduction to the West Sussex Growth Hub last night so I’m excited to dive into the resources they have on offer! Looking to get more involved with the Medford Chamber? Government Affairs: current issues include the changes to trash, zoning, and vacant storefronts. Goal: works to improve the business environment in Medford + welcomes all ideas/participants. [first Wednesday of each month @ 5pm] Events: working on Oktoberfest and a Taste of West Medford, then will move onto other events like our annual banquet! I was asked last week at a networking event why everyone in Wales turns up early for networking events and the answer was simple… If you don’t turn up early, you don’t turn up at all with our public transport. It was a bit of a light-hearted joke but actually, the reality of it is that public transport in Wales can be so unpredictable. We are progressing as a nation with growing businesses, innovators and opportunities but fall short when it comes to the right level of public transportation, it needs to change and very quickly. How are we to solve the socioeconomic problems around Wales if they can’t get out of their own villages. As a person born in the valleys… you’d never guess with my accent 😂 jobs have always been in short fall, lacked diversity or just weren’t there at all, so travelling to Cardiff was my only option, A lot of the next generation of workers won’t go for jobs in Cardiff/Swansea etc purely because they can’t get there. You can’t reach what you can’t see... right? We could be missing out on so much talent.   If we can get Public Transport right, it will mean more money across Wales, support green policies, lift families out of poverty and get greater access to jobs, healthcare, education and so much more.   Have you lost good talent because of poor transportation or are you a business in a remote area of Wales, how do you get over the public transportation issue?
