Relationships between a staff and board look different in every nonprofit, and while people might imagine a disconnect between the decision-makers on the board and the implementers on the staff, it’s ultimately a board’s responsibility to lead a nonprofit by enabling staff in fulfilling their mission. For our team at Amenable, partnering with nonprofits means supporting staff & boards in getting brand buy-in from everyone. In other words, we want everyone on the same page when it comes to what they put on a page. Sometimes we’re just putting together coaching content around an idea, and other times, (like tonight!) we’re pitching big picture vision at a board meeting. Amenable talks a lot about “building trust,” and it’s easy to let that become little more than a buzzword, but we use that language for a good reason—taking the time to facilitate trust between a staff, a board, and a brand deepens the commitments that lead to long-term impact.

Oh, wow! This is RIGHT ON TIME for me! As a Gen Xer myself, I've been talking about this a lot lately. We are the next primary target audience, but our habits are not at all like the Boomers . . . or are they? I just saw Gen X bundled into "Traditional Donors" with Boomers and I CRINGED. Yes, certainly, we have existed in "the before", but we have to remember, Gen X has been leaders into "the now" and "the what's to come". I'm really interested in doing further study into what Gen X habits REALLY are. I've got this insight: I don't know one of my peers that even checks their mailbox regularly, including me (and I work in direct mail!). There are SO MANY changes coming at us fast. With huge growth in technology helping to remove obstacles to accessing different channels, the possibilities are really exciting!
