🌐 At Consilium, our safety commitment extends to all realms, including the Caribbean😎. We were recently approached to carry out a traffic survey report for the D209 route near a new hotel on Saint Barthélemy island. 🚗🏨 The client provided insights on guest numbers and traffic flows in the airport vicinity, emphasizing holiday peaks in December. Our analysis revealed taxi-heavy traffic, minimal HGV presence, and motorcycles closely matching cars. This data guided our estimations for side road traffic around the hotel and allowed our skilled designers to optimise transportation systems. 🚕🏍️🚗 Using engineering resources like 'TA 79 99,' we calculated capacity specifics for St Barts, aligning road dimensions and traffic parameters. Graphs were crafted to depict traffic-flow relationships, service capacity, and saturation flow, enhancing comprehension and traffic management insights. 📊🚦 This comprehensive approach empowered our client to conduct a detailed environmental impact assessment for the new hotel, ensuring safety, efficiency, and community sustainability. 🌿💼 #GlobalSafetyWeek #TransportationOptimization #EnvironmentalImpactAssessment #TrafficSurveyReport

It was a really good day yesterday meeting many friends and colleagues in the industry wanting to share learnings, knowledge, and experience of good practice at the Airfield Pavement Forum at Heathrow Airport! Thanks to Ossian Stefan Olsén Louise Harris and Alkmini Karastamati for putting it all together! it's clear a lot of hard work goes into organising such an event! 🤘👏 Really interesting talks from Airports about their challenges giving lots of food for thought on how we as an industry can rise to the challenge! My BIG take away is how much outside the box thinking is needed to come up with new and innovative ways of tackling these challenges. #innovation was a key talking point. It is the case that a careful approach to trying "new things" is the current practice, for reasons which are obvious, though it doesn't sound like 'true' innovation. For 'true' innovation in the industry we need to take more risks, but in a high risk environment it is clear that the sharing of knowledge and experience of trailed successful and failed innovations is essential. Initiatives like the Pavement Forum are good places for this Maybe a shared test bed for all testing of a new product, or a digital innovation to remove some of the 'in-field' trials such as digital twins? What do you think? Share your thoughts below 👍

Just curious... What is being done with the surrounding roads and means to readily get in and out of the John Glenn International Airport complex? Right now, it looks like all of the eggs are in the I-670 basket. I would highly recommend expansion of Sawyer Road from two lanes to four lanes with a direct link to Hamilton Road. Also, there is great potential to create a new road from Sawyer Road (over I-270) to connect into downtown Gahanna off of Granville Street. Even leveraging the rail line south of 5th Ave. to create a direct route into downtown Columbus to the west, and downtown Newark to the east. Let's Gooooo... :)
