December is always that time of the year when parents are faced with having difficult discussions with their children and I don't mean the one about santa claus being real but with the Army-Navy game next week, "what is the difference between the Army and Navy and all the other branches?" I have had numerous requests to share this diagram once again since it has helped countless parents navigate this complex question. Required Disclaimers: 1.) I do not take credit for the creation of this visual aid since it was shared with me 2.) I support every branch of the military... yes even the Coast Guard and Space Force 3.) This diagram has not been approved by DOD (Dept of Defense) 4.) It can also be used as a coloring tool for Marines before meals. However, it is highly recommended that you do not give them crayons but a marker which would not be considered edible 5.) This post is for comedy relief only 6.) No animals were harmed during the making of this post #beatnavy #singsecond #veterans #armynavygame

Women Veterans Recognition Day is not a separate Veterans Day for women. Celebrated yearly on June 12, this day recognizes, honors, and remembers the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, which allowed women the right to permanently serve in the regular armed forces. Women have served in America’s wars and conflicts throughout our history. They played vital roles in the Revolutionary War, serving as soldiers, raising morale, and spying on the enemy. It is known that some even disguised themselves as men to be able to serve. Before the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act on June 12, 1948, only female nurses could serve in the regular and reserve forces during peacetime. All other women were sent home after each conflict. The signing of the Act deemed women essential to the war efforts and allowed them to serve in the regular armed forces full time. According to the U.S. Department of Defense Report in 2021, women made up 17.3% of the active-duty force and 21.4% of the National Guard and Reserves. "The over 3 million women who have served in or with the armed forces since the American Revolution have contributed immensely to the strength and resilience of our armed forces," said Patricia “Patty” Montes Barron, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy. #SteveAlpert #womenveteransday #womenveterans #military

FRA Launches 2024 Survey on Military and Veterans Benefits As part of its mission to convey enlisted concerns to Capitol Hill, the FRA is conducting an online survey to determine the most crucial military and veteran benefits for active duty and Reserve personnel, retirees, veterans, and their families. The brief survey invites current and former members of the uniformed services, as well as their spouses, to rate various benefits and quality-of-life programs linked to their service to our nation. The FRA urges all current and former military personnel and their spouses to share opinions on the programs they value most. Survey responses and participant comments offer the legislative team vital reference information for Congressional testimony and one-on-one meetings with lawmakers and their staff. Survey results are shared with elected officials on Capitol Hill, key committee staff, and leaders within the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, and Veterans Affairs to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the enlisted sea service perspective. The Green Beret Foundation (GBF) launched the Pineland Initiative on November 10, 2021. This new campaign focuses on expanding the Foundation’s scope of services to include pre-9/11 U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers and their families. The Pineland Initiative, which launched in 2022, reflects a 3-year phased approach to growth and expansion of existing programs and services to accommodate the needs of the pre-9/11 Green Beret population. One key aspect of this expansion is the welcoming of additional Veteran Service Officers (VSOs) onboard GBF staff to meet the anticipated greater need for assistance with the preparation and prosecution of Veterans Affairs benefits and disability claims. These new VSOs will bring with them the added benefit of providing a Foundation presence geographically located at each of the five Active Duty Special Forces Groups, and two National Guard Special Forces Groups, located around the country. The name “Pineland” pays tribute to the shared legacy of Green Berets, past and present. This initiative is well-timed, as the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the U.S. Army Special Forces will be commemorated this coming June 19th. With Pineland being the first initiative in GBF’s history to support Green Berets of all generations, there’s an opportunity to honor those that laid the groundwork to make the Green Berets the world’s premier, elite special operations force. The GBF is asking that those wishing to support the Pineland Initiative campaign consider making a commitment of support to the Foundation at the amount of just a $12 monthly recurring contribution. #greenberet #specialforces #militaryfamilies #veteransupport #Pineland #greenberetfoundation
The Pineland Initiative of the Green Beret Foundation extended access to our comprehensive programs and services to all generations of U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers and their families.
