Chief Storyteller | Video Production that Increases Awareness & Impact for Nonprofits, Associations, and Foundations | dmbpictures.com
As we close out this first month of the New Year, you might be thinking about how your New Year’s resolutions are going (if you made them.) One thought to share via a recent video we created for the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC)… Rather than thinking about resolutions, figure out your “Why.” Knowing your why will help guide everything else you do in life. We created this #video to help inspire the next generation of leaders and providers who work in community health centers to keep going and continue this important work. My “Why” is getting to work with #missiondriven organizations and sharing the important work they do through emotional stories on film. I love it when we can create something amazing to help further their purpose. Why do you get up each morning? What motivates you to keep going?

The latest from AHA Market Scan: 5 Innovative Efforts to Improve Community Health Collaboration is key to improving community health. And if you’re looking for inspiration to excel in this area, look no further than this year’s AHA Dick Davidson NOVA Award winners. The five recipients of this year’s awards are addressing some of the field’s greatest challenges — from ensuring that patients can connect easily with community resources to steering violence survivors toward a path of healing to implementing street medicine programs. And they are working shoulder to shoulder with other community stakeholders to get the job done. https://lnkd.in/guuX8i3h

That's a wrap! Yesterday Sally Devine and I held the final steering group session of Gorton Health Matters. We spoke about, how community engagement models can struggle to be successfully replicated and reflected on the reasons for the projects success and some of its challenges. Here are some of our closing reflections: 1. Relationships have deep histories - it takes time to embed a successful project and thats often overlooked. We reflected on how long each worker and orgnisation had spent building their own relationships in the area of focus? (It was a combined lifetime!) 2. Discomfort is generative - Partnerships need space for disagreement. Do all of the partner feel comfortable airing grievances? 3. The funding doesn't fit out current needs - We desperately need more funding options for strategic and relational work that sits outside of patient involvement in research project. 4. Why isn't patient experience and engagement included in literature reviews? Who gets to decide when a topic is adequately researched? What a conversation! I'm inspired and genuinely in awe of the amazing experts we got to work with on this. Thankyou Toto, Tikhala, Idowu, Fozia, Sarah and Abin for such a brilliantly inspiring close to the work. Watch this space for our co-authored paper! (The image below was the penultimate one)
