Join us in welcoming Tim Holley, PA-C, to our Saratoga Medical Associates care team! Tim is a member of the New York State Society of PAs member. He received his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Pace University College of Health Professions and his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the State University of New York at Geneseo. Tim is especially interested in mental health and how it intersects with physical health. He was drawn to medicine after working as an EMT in New York City. He enjoyed interacting with patients, problem-solving, and feeling like he was helping people in a tangible way. During his PA training at a small family practice, he worked with a family medicine physician who had been practicing in the same community for decades. This experience demonstrated the value of building long-term relationships with patients and the trust and sense of stability that comes along with that, which solidified his decision to pursue family medicine. Tim’s diverse experience in emergency medicine and urgent care has not only shaped his patient care philosophy, but also ignited a deep passion for providing the best care possible. He firmly believes that every patient is unique and deserves a provider who will take the time to listen and understand their concerns. Originally from Burnt Hills, Tim enjoys playing music, playing sports outdoors, gardening, and relaxing with his family. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eiKMUpKS.

Join Dr Mary Bourke and Dr Jenna Davis at the Aloft Richardson Hotel, in Dallas, Texas on September 16th, 5:30pm-8:00pm, to meet like-minded practitioners for an evening of invaluable education, canapes and drinks. The Bebe Protocols, give practitioners the tools and understanding to facilitate optimal oral outcomes and development for their little patients. In a world where "normal" development is often far from ideal, these protocols will give you the awareness of which factors indicate if a child's oral development is on track. If we have a thorough understanding of what ideal looks like, we are then able to detect issues and correct them earlier; the earlier we can detect a developmental problem, the more likely we are able to shift the trajectory and get them back on track! Common language and understanding to allow for easily transferable information across a broad spectrum of professions, the Bebe Protocols are a MUST for any practitioner working in the infant space. Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner at Pier Health Group with a passion to prevent falls & fractures
Thank you British Geriatrics Society for making me feel so incredibly welcome at your Autumn conference, where everyone talks to anyone, despite your profession and level of experience. What have I gained? 1) an understanding that recognising frailty is everybody's business & eFI is not accurate 2) that nothing beats meeting people in person including David Oliver (one of my heros) 3) that there are so many wonderful, generous people who willingly give you their support & time Holly Paris Deb Gompertz Esther Clift 4) by listening to research presentations from a wide range of professionals (incl dieticians, paramedics) highlights innovative practice & inspires you to do replicate it in your patch too 5) this is not just for physios in frailty, it is for anyone who supports older adults including Primary Care FCPs 6) by recognising & preventing worsening frailty we can make a significant impact on reducing hospital admissions, quality of life and premature morbidity What next? 1) do the *free until June 2024* BGS frailty e-learning modules 2) work out a way of collecting frailty data & coding it accurately on Patient Medical Records 3) book next years BGS conference 😁 https://lnkd.in/eNbgZ7Ta

FROM RAVAGE TO RECOVERY: A Testament of Hope 🌟 Some months ago, I was part of a dedicated medical team faced with a daunting challenge: a 12 year old female child who was critically ill, her health hanging by the thinnest thread. A race against time, but we were resolute in our mission to bring this young life back from the edge. Through tireless efforts and multidisciplinary teamwork, we watched as this child's condition slowly transformed. We watched her struggle to summon the resolve to live again on most days. There were days we saw no visible progress and there were days we witnessed tangible improvements. One routine through another, multiple re-assurance & counseling to our patient as well as family members, a little over 3 months on hospital admission, we watched this child gradually get up to her feet again. In the medical profession, we encounter several challenging situations, critically ill patients, to varying degrees. We’ve lost some, we’ve shed a tear or three. But this…this was a testimony for the books. This story isn't just about a medical team; it's about the strength of a child and the unyielding support of their family. It's a reminder that, in the face of adversity, hope and determination can overcome even the most daunting challenges. As I script this piece, I'm reminded again of why I chose a career in medicine. It's about making a difference, no matter how small or grand, in the lives of those we serve. It's about holding onto hope, even when circumstances seem dire. 🌈 #MedicalMiracles #HopeInHealthcare #TeamworkTriumphs I was privileged to work with this team of health professionals on this case. News from a #TeachMETreatME event that happened recently! Jaime Seltzer, #MEAction's Director of Scientific & Medical Outreach, spoke at Quinnipiac University. =The university's Center for Interprofessional Healthcare Education hosted “Interprofessional Seminar: myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome ME/CFS” on April 25 with students from medicine, physician assistant, athletic training – physical therapy, health sciences, nursing, occupational therapy and physical therapy. From the Center for Healthcare Education: "The faculty team: Professors Doyle, Grevelding, Lewis, Selinger, and Wescott based the seminar on the recent work published by the Mayo Clinic Proceedings (2023) focusing on the concept of post-exertion(al) malaise and the impact on all body systems and daily functioning. The highlight of the seminar was the voice of noted researcher Jaime Seltzer, a co-author of the Mayo Clinic Proceedings (article), who has ME/CFS. 95-100% of the student participants indicated that the seminar allowed them to identify the issues of ME/CFS related to stigma, non-restorative sleep as a symptom, and the impact of post exertion malaise on life." "Jaime Seltzer, (of) MEAction, was a powerful voice and advocate in her interview at the seminar. One student’s words summarized the opinions of the participants, “continuing to advocate for yourself as well as for your patients by truly listening to what they are telling you is your best diagnostic tool and will allow you to be patient-centered and interprofessional in providing care and best referrals to other professions.” Great to hear of the positive impact this campaign is making! #MillionsMisisng #pwME #MECFS #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis

Whether you are delivering in healthcare, community care, working at neighbourhood house, a cemetery or a for profit business - never underestimate the power and importance of understanding the person in front of you. People come with a story, no two are alike. Their history, their worries, their ability to trust and to take carriage of what they can control. Here's a great example of the relationship between patient and doctor and the impact of decline in empathy over time. The message is transferrable to other professions and roles. A great reminder - whether it is a narrative medicine course or something else that refreshes our approach understanding the person in front of us is key to getting the best outcomes. https://lnkd.in/gzYj9RmW #empathy #outcomesfocus #patientcentred #personcentred #improvement #selfdetermination #listening #understanding #perspective
It only takes 11 seconds for a doctor to interrupt a patient. A simple shift could change things

Main takeaways from the PACED International Summer School on palliative care (Armenia, 2024): - In most of the PACED countries (Caucasus, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, Baltic countries) palliative care is yet to be comprehended as a concept. It is driven now by very professional passionaries, but there are still a lot of systemic changes to come. - Exchange and offline communication are of critical importance to palliative care specialists. Not just to exchange experience, but also to prevent burnout. - Development of paediatric palliative care as well as palliative care in residential institutions is a big pain and challenge for everyone. - There is a significant demand for training the trainers/teachers in order to disseminate up-to-date knowledge. - Non-medical staff is not less important than medical staff. Psychologists, social workers, chaplains and other specialists also need to be trained and supported. Thank you to all my dear colleagues (Ira Chernozhukova Ksenia Pominova Kristina Roppelt Anastasia Gulyavina Inna Babina, and others) and to our respected experts (Minna Hökkä, and others) for making this School happen. And of course a huge thank you goes to our 50 doctors and nurses from 6 countries who believed in PACED and came to Armenia to participate in the Summer School! To be continued.

It’s really shocking to me that Florida’s Surgeon General (and head of the Department of Health) Dr. Joseph Lapado is “deferring to parents or guardians” to make decisions about attending school in the midst of a measles outbreak. https://lnkd.in/ejvV8NK3 Not sure what he is thinking, so want to remind him of his duties under Florida statute, particularly 1 (b). Note that it says “The Department shall implement interventions…. The 2023 Florida Statutes (including Special Session C) Title IV EXECUTIVE BRANCH Chapter 20 ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE View Entire Chapter 20.43 Department of Health.—There is created a Department of Health. (1) The purpose of the Department of Health is to protect and promote the health of all residents and visitors in the state through organized state and community efforts, including cooperative agreements with counties.
