In celebration of Earth Month, McDaniel Law is making donations to several organizations that help the environment and reduce the impact of climate change. Our first organization is Black Farmer Fund. Climate change disproportionately impacts the Black community. The Black Farmer Fund's mission is to nurture Black community wealth and health by investing in Black agricultural systems. This organization is helping to level the playing field by providing financial assistance, education on investing and support systems for Black farmers. Love your eye ❤️ Ainak is a Silicon Valley nonprofit, in providing free eye exams and prescription eyeglasses to the under-resourced children in California. Ainak's mission is a powerful commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind in their educational journey due to the financial constraints of their parents or guardians in affording proper eye care. We believe in providing every child with the opportunity to achieve a 20/20 vision, recognizing that this not only supports their academic success but also cultivates the confidence necessary for them to thrive in life and pursue their dreams. The statistics further underscore the urgency and significance of our mission. A staggering 62 million Americans lack access to essential eye care and eyeglasses, creating a substantial gap in addressing visual health needs. Equally concerning is the fact that over 300,000 children commence their school year each September with vision impairment, underscoring the critical nature of our work. Alarming is the diagnosis of vision impairment in 1 in 3 preschool-aged children. This statistic emphasizes the crucial role Ainak plays in intervening at an early age to prevent not only immediate hindrances to learning but also to avert potentially severe eye health problems as these children mature.

A lot of friends and family ask..."what is it that you do exactly"? and "what is your organization all about?" - this is a terrific article about our new CEO John Harper that gets into the why and the how of what we do. A hopeful, informative, and inspiring read.
Huge thanks to Devex's Stephanie Beasley for interviewing John Harper on his background, how philanthropy is responding to DEI backlash, and some of his hopes in leading FSG. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eWdYdpGv
