Meet Matthew! 👋 Matthew started his journey with Community Reach Center as a mandatory step in his mental health recovery. Since recovery, he has continued to come to the AWARE Center because he enjoys that much. 🎊 Matthew is an AWARE Center regular who loves to socialize, hit up our group outings, and attend his favorite group, Music for Wellness. 🎶 During our check-in, he emphasized his appreciation for CRC staff who help connect members with the services they need to regain stability and thrive. In the words of Matthew, he shared, “If I could give a shout out to people... Just give it a try. You will like it.” 😃 We’re glad to hear you are enjoying yourself and happy to have you as part of the AWARE Center community! #SocialWellnessMonth

For many, the loud noises and bright flashes bring back difficult memories or cause anxiety. This #FourthOfJuly, let’s be mindful and considerate of those who may find this time challenging. 1. Create a Safe Space: Offer a quiet, comfortable environment away from fireworks. 2. Provide Ear Protection: Use noise-canceling headphones or earplugs. 3. Offer Companionship: Stay with them during the fireworks. 4. Plan Alternative Activities: Engage in calming indoor activities. 5. Communicate: Validate their feelings and encourage open conversation. 6. Educate Others: Raise awareness about the impact of fireworks. 7. Prepare Ahead: Know the schedule of local fireworks and plan accordingly. 8. Seek Professional Help: Encourage speaking with a mental health professional if needed.
