The CRIS employment program aims to prepare refugees for the workplace to help them achieve the goal of long-term self-sufficiency and integration in the Central Ohio community. This includes English language instruction, skills-based instruction, interview practice, and individual employment counseling. Recently, the CRIS Employment team has innovated new approaches to workplace preparation with some of those they serve. One of these fresh approaches is a weekly professional development class. This class aims to support CRIS employment program participants who have professional skills and experience and strong English language skills. The curriculum was developed by the course’s volunteer teache Rob Newman; it highlights professional life in the U.S., resume-building, networking, interview strategies, and more. Now retired, Newman brings over 30 years of experience in leadership development, training design and development, and human resources expertise to his volunteer work with refugees. He shares, “Refugees are so interested in succeeding here in the U.S…helping them do so is tremendously exciting."

AUSTRALIAN SKILLS PASSPORT SYSTEM to CONNECT WORKERS and EMPLOYERS The federal government has introduced a commendable initiative: "With a passport, you can travel; with a skills passport, you can secure employment". However, the specifics of this program are still in the early stages of development and have yet to be finalised. Nevertheless, it promises to offer a valuable platform for skilled professionals to gain recognition and connect through a nationwide skills passport system…” remarked Wee-Oon Chief Executive from OZemployment. This passport system aims to facilitate workers in showcasing their comprehensive qualifications, micro-credentials, prior educational achievements, workplace experience, and general proficiencies. Under this proposal, a professional worker's qualifications would be securely stored in a digital format, much like My Health Record national system. Furthermore, it is anticipated to unify various reform initiatives, including changes to the migration system, under a single overarching framework. "The positive impact is achieved through the sharing of data among professionals and employers. However, when we look at skills data for a group or population, its significance grows even further. It helps gain insights into employment requirements, formulating effective policies, and devising more informed plans” … adds Wee-Oon OZemployment.com.au focuses on addressing professional skilled labour shortages and in the past year, has conducted extensive research on the top 150+ in demand job categories, with 300,000+ available positions across Australia. hashtag #OZemployment hashtag #SkilledLabour hashtag #SkilledEmployment hashtag #Diversity hashtag #Equality https://lnkd.in/ghKXk8RA

What a great start to a wonderful content collaboration between World Education Services and SwitchboardTA! Three takeaways of why it is so important for all of us to collaborate with partners and look at issues from different angles: ✔ Barriers are easier to overcome when you work together. (Yes, it takes a village!) ✔ There are many ways to approach a problem, and collaboration helps us discover new solutions. ✔ The farther we are from the field, the more we need to consider the insights and experiences of those closest to the issue. (Direct service providers and individuals with lived experience are the true experts; we amplify their voices!) Read the latest blog for service providers supporting internationally trained refugees here (and let us know what we are missing! 😉): https://lnkd.in/ed_pyTaE #SocialImpact #Collaboration #Community #RefugeeSupport #TeamWork #Innovation #LivedExperience

Here are just some of the "lovely" comments from social media in response to the ad for our online program focused on helping #immigrants integrate into Canadian society. https://lnkd.in/gt8hyVED I am not posting these to validate my feelings or explain how to deal with haters. I am posting this to raise your awareness and understanding of the challenges immigrants face, in addition to the systemic issues related to the acceptance of their education, experience, and language proficiency. Here is my ask: 🙏Recall this post when an immigrant approaches you for a networking opportunity. 🙏Recall this post when you talk to an immigrant during a job interview. 🙏Recall this post when you manage an immigrant in your day-to-day job. ❤️ Choose to be kind ❤️ But most importantly, help immigrants by sponsoring opportunities for them. 🌱 Show what being a "real Canadian" truly means. #diversity #inclusion #belonging #canada
