Our CCBHC leadership team gained valuable insight while in Chicago for the CCBHC-E Program Midwest Regional Grantee meeting last week. CCBHC Director Kim Meals, Manager Terri Shavers and Evaluator Jessica Clemons learned about innovative practices in addition to networking with other organizations from the region. The team also was joined by members of SAMHSA and the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, who offered technical assistance. A great opportunity to further enhance our CCBHC efforts! #innovation #growth #CCBHC

The Power of Youth: Inside BLGC’s Pots of Gold Panel At BLGC, we believe in empowering young people by giving them a voice in decisions that impact their peers. Our Pots of Gold panel, comprising five members aged 13-16 from diverse backgrounds within BLGC, embodies this philosophy. With representatives from our Young Leaders and all areas of our Youth offer the panel ensures inclusive and equitable decisions on funding applications. During the reporting period (April 2023 to April 2024), the panel reviewed 39 applications addressing diverse needs, including 16 for hobbies and 17 for stress management. The total value pledged amounted to £2,405, with individual awards ranging from £25 to £100. Each application represents a young person’s hope. From hobbies that nurture creativity to stress management tools, the panel’s decisions significantly enhance the lives of BLGC members. This initiative not only addresses immediate needs but also cultivates leadership, responsibility, and community among our youth. Huge thanks to the Provincial Walsh Trust, all the young people involved and @Laura Eaves and Emma Venn for all their hard work. #YouthEmpowerment #CommunityLeadership #BLGC #PotsOfGold #YouthDevelopment

📢 PSA: This recently released guide, ‘Building Youth Leadership in Violence Prevention’ from FVREE is a fantastic resource for professionals and practitioners seeking to engage with young people as part of their various programs of work. FVREE, a specialist family violence service in the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne, has created the guide, in partnership with young people who have graduated from their Leaders for Change Program. Engaging with young people through consultation, collaboration, and co-design is a critical part of our work here at Deakin and the broader sector, so it's great to see the creation of a resource that: ➡ offers practical strategies for program development, ➡ provides advice on facilitating engaging sessions for young people and, ➡ introduces creative approaches for gathering feedback. There’s useful guidance to foster effective consultation, including the need to be flexible, ensure you hear from young people directly regarding their needs, preferences and concerns, consult with experts for insights on recruitment and obtaining consent, and (most importantly!) to compensate those who share their time and contributions appropriately. As we continue to look for ways to improve our practice and to learn from others, it's great to see resources like this being made widely available! Access the resource: https://lnkd.in/gt9zDe5t

The PIE team had a great time learning from many amazing colleagues who are building and supporting community schools across the nation at the National Community Schools and Family Engagement Conference (CSxFE24). We were honored to spend time with our partners at ACT Now https://lnkd.in/gKnc7HQ9, who have received not one, but TWO Full-Service Community Schools (FSCS) state scaling grants for Illinois. PIE is serving as the external evaluation partner for both grants. The conference opened up with an engaging workshop for FSCS grantees. One key discussion at this session centered around shared leadership. No matter what sector you work in, we found the following reflection question incredibly helpful to consider when building partnerships: What kind of partnership are you looking to create 1) completely shared leadership with equal voice and consensus; 2) advising to get feedback that informs decisions; or 3) solo decision-making? Each type of partnership has its place, and it's important to be transparent at all times.

Why is one of the Right Moves For Youth 4 Pillars, Civic Duty/Leadership? It’s simple: while there are many reasons, the number one reason is the ability for youth to apply what they have learned in “the real world”. We help them take the opportunity to help others and in turn see their significance in this world. Believe it.
As one of our students said, "they need this stuff if they're having an unfortunate phase in their life, where they can't get this". RMFY staff, mentors and students at Mountain Island Lake Academy put together hygiene packs for clients at Crisis Assistance Ministry. Our students saw a need and met a need. Civic duty in action. Other Right Moves For Youth groups that also joined in this leadership activity were Coulwood, Whitewater, and Alexander Graham Middle #atalltimes #YouthEmpowerment #MentoringMatters #BrightFutures #EmpoweringYouth #youthmentoring #mentorshipmatters

Today Megan Snodgrass and I completed our second day walking WGU leaders through an exercise to capture their strategic goals for the next two years. Every ERG has its own autonomy and serve their community in different ways. Now they know exactly what they want to focus and and they have a parking lot of future ideas. We also walked the leaders through what's in it for them professionally when they volunteer to lead an ERG and how to use that exact information to drive volunteerism for their various leadership positions. Lastly, we talked about how critical intersectionality is and that we are ALL BETTER TOGETHER! Thanks Javonda Quinn Thanks WGU for tow AMAZING days!!!!! #erg #brg #employeeresourcegroups #businessresourcegroups If you lead an ERG or Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team and want to learn more, click the link in the comments to book some time.
