A big thank you to the loving community of supporters who attended today's 52nd Annual Youth for Community Engagement (YCE) Luncheon. YCE engages more than 400 youth volunteers from 10 San Francisco high schools, connecting them with the community, supporting their leadership and potential, and building bridges across generations. Congratulations to our awardees at this year's luncheon, and our heartfelt gratitude to our many sponsors donors, including this year's title sponsors Bank of the Orient and Kaiser Permanente. #CYC #SeeWhy #YCE #youthleadership

How can a non profit industry support marginalized communities? To better support marginalized communities, a non-profit organization should prioritize understanding the specific needs and challenges of these communities through active engagement and consistent communication. Building trust through transparency and involving community members in decision-making processes is crucial. The organization should focus on empowerment by providing education, training, and leadership development, while also fostering partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and businesses. Culturally sensitive approaches and advocacy for policy changes are essential for addressing systemic issues. Implementing sustainable, long-term solutions and regularly evaluating program impacts, incorporating community feedback, will ensure the support provided is effective and meaningful.

Such a powerful conversation with Bina M Patel and Sonia Mathew in collaboration with Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP), Chicago Latines in Philanthropy, Chicago African Americans in Philanthropy, and The Chicago Community Trust. Bina's new book, "Say the Quiet Part Out Loud" is medicine. It's a recentering to purpose, a rallying cry to build out collective care, and a-hug-masquerading-as-a-book for "weary but purposeful hearts." Here's the link to get/gift a copy: https://lnkd.in/gpszp7tk. Community is everything in this work.

Join me in making a real difference this Women’s History Month! Donate to the Junior League of Los Angeles - a 98-year-old women's nonprofit with a mission to advance women’s leadership for the greater good. https://lnkd.in/dipYwiGj Can you believe that: -Women make up 73% of the U.S. nonprofit workforce, yet around 45% have women among their executives. -And of those nonprofits with an annual budget of $50 million only 17% had a female CEO. -And it’s also important to note that women of color, in particular, are least likely to hold leadership positions at nonprofits. Invest in the Junior League of Los Angeles and invest in more women in nonprofit leadership!

**GIA READER** Moving the Needle on Systems Change in Arts Philanthropy Lisa Payne Simon, MPH, Stratton Lloyd, MBA, and Karen Ristuben "Providing leadership and support for systems change in the arts and culture that also tackles pressing community needs is one way for place-based foundations to become changemakers and differentiate themselves among donors," said Simon, Lloyd, and Ristuben. "Many foundations ask, how can such complex work be accomplished? How do we focus efforts and resources? One strategy is the application of systems change frameworks to drive local action intentionally. Frameworks provide place-based arts and culture funders (and funders working in other topic areas) with a compass to navigate the waters of systems change, moving from framework to practice and, ultimately, to impact." Where are the spaces for black women who aspire to be VP and C-Suite level leadership? How can we connect with black women who hold these positions? Where are the meet and greets? Where are the charitable fundraising galas? Where are the professional and personal mentorship opportunities? How can we glean the knowledge and perspective from those at the top to better prepare us when we get there?
