Did you know that Canada ranks 13th in the world for deceased donor rates and 11th for living donor rates? Canada’s continued investment in donation activities such as mandatory referrals and donation physicians has improved donation rates to meet national and local system needs, but we must continue these efforts to become a world leader in this important field. (Route Details or those that are interested) https://lnkd.in/gzWc2H6x Help Jeffrey raise money for participating in THE TRIPLE BYPASS 2024 on July 13, 2024 A rare and fast-growing brain tumor unexpectedly took from us, our youngest son Brody. He chose to donate his spine and his brain to science in hopes that his generous contribution will help researchers find a cure for this tumor. He made his donation so that no other child or family would have to suffer through this again. Aligned with Brody’s integrity, we have created this Foundation in his name. Donations will go toward finding a cure. 2023 Triple Bypass our team raised over $10,000 and thanks to so many, Brody's Foundation sent our first $50K to Dr. Nicholas Vitanza and his Team at Seattle Children’s where they harvested T-cells from Brody with hopes of Brody joining their CAR-T trial. Brody's life was cut too short and unfortunately, he never made it back to start the trial. The goal of Vitanza's Lab is to find new treatments that are both safe and curative for high-grade, aggressive pediatric brain and spinal cord tumors, such as Brody’s diffuse midline glioma H3 K27M (DMG). It's World Cancer Day. This year, the Alberta Cancer Foundation is shining a light on the economic challenges of facing a cancer diagnosis. Once diagnosed with cancer, an individual could require medical and specialized care for months (if not years). A recent study concluded that the economic burden of cancer in Canada, including travel and accommodation costs, parking, out-of-pocket expenses and income loss averages, could be be as high as $2,500/month per patient. It's particularly challenging for those who have to travel far distances for treatments, which is frankly the reality for many. That's where the Alberta Cancer Foundation Patient Financial Assistance program comes in. It's to provide a little boost for those facing a difficult cancer diagnosis who might have to travel for treatments, arrange child care or perhaps lose employment income. Entirely funded by generous donors, it's all about Albertans helping Albertans.
Today, on World Cancer Day, your generosity can go twice as far! Support our Patient Financial Assistance Program, offering crucial relief for eligible Albertans facing cancer, like Michael Kosterman. Your impact means everything to the eligible families affected by cancer in every community across the province. This includes Michael, an acute myeloid leukemia survivor from Duchess, Alberta. Thanks to an anonymous donor, every donation made today will be matched, up to $200,000, to have double the impact for this incredibly important program. Please give generously: https://lnkd.in/g-PpEqci #Albertacancer #WorldCancerDay2024 #PatientFinancialAssistance #Costofcancer #Givetoday

Every year, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day on June 14. This year marks the 2️⃣0️⃣th edition of the event Donating blood is one of the simplest, yet most important ways to help others. Did you know that one donation can save up to three lives? Blood is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, organ transplants and emergencies 🚑 Thanks to regular blood donors, hospitals and medical centers can provide essential treatment to all those in need. In most Polish cities, we are facing shortages of many blood groups in blood banks. Only in the case of the most specific blood groups (AB Rh+, AB Rh-) are stocks optimal. 🔴 The most common blood types in Poland are A Rh+ (32%) and 0 Rh+ (31%). 🔴 In Poland blood or blood components can be donated by people between the ages of 18 and 65 who weigh at least 50 kilograms. 🔴 Donations from universal donors (0 Rh-) are especially needed, as they can be used for transfusions in all patients.
