Pizza parties don’t work. They are fun for birthdays and Friday nights with the family, but not as a means of employee appreciation. The goal of recognizing employee performance and their hard work is to motivate them to keep working hard and to get them to want to show up each day. Pizza parties are a bandaid or blanket solution. They are a general reward for a few minutes, maybe even for a day. But when employees want more from their organization as far as appreciation, giving them pizza is not the solution. It tells employees that leadership has not taken the time to get to know their employees and their needs. They are events that happen for a day then it’s back to the same ol same ol. Go on a team hike to bond together, play games that promote teamwork and problem solving skills, write an individual thank you note to each person saying how they have positively impacted the team, create ways to help promote learning within the company. These promote motivation and the desire to work in ways pizza cannot.

Pizza parties, while popular and easy way to recognize employees, often fall short as a meaningful form of recognition. Here are a few reasons why- 1. Lack of Personalization 2. Perceived as Low Effort 3. Temporary & Short Term 4. Recognition Imbalanced While the effort is there, this can create recognition imbalance where significant achievements are acknowledged in the same way as minor ones, which lessens the impact of recognition. #workhumor #theoffice #pizzaparty #recognition

On 26th September I was at inspirational breakfast in Karlín. As you can see, it was organized by BrandBakers and HumanCraft. It was my first contact with both of them. Besides delicious breakfast :), they've created very pleasant atmosphere and interactive session. In working groups we discussed for example: how to increase engagement of employees to complete the required company's training and understand its impacts. One quote for the end: We cannot motivate people in this area, we can only "context them", e.g. provide an explanation and bigger picture so colleagues can understand what they, as a company, going to achieve.

Would you stay at a job with lower pay if you liked your coworkers? We polled 1500 restaurant employees about what motivates them at work. They said their team is just as important as financial incentives. That means you can't ignore team-building activities and behaviors that harm your culture. Like Danny Meyer said, your restaurant has a culture, whether it's intentional or not. The employees also told us: -Why they quit restaurant jobs -What makes them stick around -How they like to be trained Restaurateurs like Danny Meyer, Kwini Reed, and Chris Britt weighed in on the findings. They shared actionable steps to have a happier, more engaged restaurant team. See some of the key insights here 👇

From Our Blog It’s a common scene in many workplaces. A manager orders pizza for the team, as a kind of offering, hoping to foster teamwork and boost morale. While these pizza parties may be enjoyable, they can create a false sense of culture building by management that doesn’t address the deeper needs of the team, and the company. Read our blog to learn how to not be fooled by the allure of pizza as company culture: https://lnkd.in/gceX5Qid

We are excited to launch a new monthly series called Employee Spotlight, where we sit down with members of our team to delve into their day-to-day experiences at Clearly Drinks. Meet Tracy Mallam, our Production Manager, a dedicated professional whose journey to Clearly Drinks was fuelled by a desire for change. Coming from a previous role that lacked fulfilment, Tracy stumbled upon an advertisement for a supervisor position here. During her interview with Mick Howard [CEO], Tracy knew this was the place for her. Her skills aligned perfectly with what Clearly Drinks needed, and the match was evident. Tracy reflects, ‘Some people are just meant to find you.' In her role, Tracy ensures safe training, covers production shifts, reviews handovers, and engages in various meetings driving business growth. Tracy has accomplished significant milestones since joining, introducing 5S Standards which has helped elevate the business to a silver level, and contributing to four consecutive years BRAC AA achievements. Recently nominated for Most Inspirational Female at the North East Chamber of Commerce Awards, Tracy expressed great pride in the unexpected recognition. "At Clearly Drinks, no day is the same. We design a 'must win battle plan' for success, focusing on both immediate product delivery and long-term business development. My role is to cascade this vision to our production team, ensuring we maintain high standards and contribute to the company's growth." Tracy is not only a mentor but also a living embodiment of our company values. She played a pivotal role in establishing these values when she joined. For Tracy, 'Make it Happen' is her favourite value, perfectly aligning with the ethos of our production team. "Flexibility is amazing here. We are given a task, and we make it happen. Take Tango, for instance—from the first conversation to production, it was record time.” Tracy's story exemplifies the success we achieve when our team embraces our values and works towards a common goal. #ClearlyDrinks #EmployeeSpotlight #MakeItHappen
