Everyone has their own story. Some have wishes to take control of their health proactively. Others, like Tom Scocca have, as he says in his article in New York Magazine, a medical mystery. We don't want you to hear or read "'no cure' and 'symptoms vary' and 'don’t know exactly what causes this process to begin,'" as Tom did. He continues with "I was on my own with it." We don't want you to ever feel those feelings. If you are navigating unexplainable symptoms, a new diagnosis, or feel like you are getting tossed from one practitioner to another with no clear path, consider functional medicine which looks at the whole body and whose goal is to heal, not to bandage up symptoms. #functionalmedicine #charlottenc The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M)

Thank you Pulse--voices from the heart of medicine for publishing my piece. The prompt was “on being different,” which immediately made me want to write about how much I feel we are all fundamentally similar. My Shared Experience: A diagnosis, a difficult (perhaps unwanted) gift. A gift that helped me find more joy, more compassion, and more opportunity to connect with patients. After all, we are all people facing challenges trying to find hope, strength, and courage despite them. We all feel different, which is what makes us the same. In medicine, this constant reminder keeps me humble and aware. Read the full article at https://lnkd.in/gJh9CrPr #hospitalmedicine #internalmedicine #compassioninmedicine #braincancerawareness

When medical mistakes happen, patients and their families often find themselves at a loss trying to figure out exactly what went wrong. Something bad happened. And then, communication drops; there's no real explanation, and no apology. Suddenly, everybody seems on guard. Health care providers can often feel bound by an imposed cone of silence that's designed to protect them and their institution, but makes it impossible to fully face up to their mistake, or have open conversations about preventing future ones. On this episode, we explore the breaking of that silence, along with new solutions to avoid medical errors. We hear stories about what prompted one surgeon to go public after performing the wrong procedure, how the death of a young woman prompted her parents to try and change the system, and an investigation into an OB-GYN and the trail of injured women left in his wake.

Does your physician take you seriously? I do. I help women with unsolved medical issues | Medical Advocate + Detective | Cancer survivor #yourmedicaldetective
"You can't make a diagnosis unless you think of it." One of the amazing abilities I have, after being in the field of Functional/Alternative Medicine for 35+ years, is that I've been surrounded by difficult-to-diagnose cases. I like to think of Syndromes rather than Diagnoses. That way, I'm not limited in my thinking. Often, Doctors are too quick to make a diagnosis, forget the other issues, and leave them unaddressed. The problem with American medicine is that it simplifies a person's issues. It assumes one problem where many times there are two or even more issues at play. What's the point of doing the same testing over and over again on your clients/patients when you aren't getting answers? I have clients come to me with three years of labs, most of which have been just repeated over and over. No one is taught to think outside the box. What questions does your doctor ask you when you're dealing with chronic medical issues? Are they the right questions? Check out my website in the How it Works Section. Look at some of the questionaires I require my clients to answer. You have to ask the right questions to get the full answer. www.susanlevin.net

This certificate represents more than just a piece of paper - it symbolizes a deep connection between you and your patient. It's about putting yourself in their shoes and understanding their perspective. If you were in their situation, facing the same health concerns or physical challenges, what emotions would you experience? What expectations would you have from the person handling your sample or diagnosis? It's about empathy, compassion, and understanding. It's a reminder that the person on the other end of the diagnosis is not just a patient, but a human being with feelings, fears, and hopes. By acknowledging this connection, you can provide a more personalized and caring approach to healthcare, making a positive impact on your patient's journey.

Have you ever experienced medical gaslighting? I want to hear your story. Medical gaslighting happens when a doctor dismisses, downplays or invalidates your health concerns. They may say your symptoms are "all in your head" or "just stress." Sadly, this happens all too often and the impacts can be devastating - delayed diagnoses, prolonged suffering, trauma and self-doubt. If you have experienced medical gaslighting, please share your story below. Let's break the culture of silence and support each other. You deserve to be heard. Your pain is real. I would love to know: What symptoms were dismissed? How did it make you feel? Did you get a second opinion or find a more supportive doctor? What would you tell others who have been gaslit by the medical system? By sharing our stories, we can educate others, advocate for change, and make sure no one else feels alone in this struggle. Our voices are powerful. https://lnkd.in/gDnKJTkk or link in bio! • • • • • #drpingel #redefineyourhealth #naturopathicmedicine #naturopath #healthyliving #healthylifestyle #naturalwellness #healthandwellness #bewell #healthiswealth #wellnessjourney #healthtips #gaslighting #gaslightingawareness #gaslightingisabuse #medicalgaslighting #patientcare #consult #consultation #consultations #medicalcare #doctorpatient #minmize #minimizing #propercare #treatments #treatment #gooddoctor #healthprofessionals #doctorcare
