As professionals, we’ve all had to struggle with the occasional feeling like we are running on empty, strained, and overwhelmed, but one major key to breaking free from this cycle lies in serving others. My journey with volunteering began in medical school, where I participated in numerous community outreach programs, these experiences not only helped sharpen my skills but also ignited a sense of purpose within me. I’ve learned that serving others shifts our focus from scarcity to abundance, as collective efforts can drive meaningful change, as well as the ripple effects of kindness and compassion. If you’re feeling drained or uncertain, I encourage you to explore opportunities to serve, whether through volunteering, mentoring, or simply lending a helping hand. #Volunteering #CommunityService #PersonalGrowth #Purpose #Fulfillment #SocialImpact #ProfessionalDevelopment

💤 Skegee: Your go-to for vegan sleep gummies and holistic wellness supplements. Sleep better, live healthier. 🌱
On National Build Day, Alabama Professional Services and Sleep in Heavenly Peace joined forces to tackle a daunting issue: child bedlessness. This initiative aimed to provide hand-made beds to children who, without this support, would have to sleep on floors or couches, contributing to severe health and emotional challenges. Reflecting on my own experiences, I remember volunteering for community projects similar to this where we came together, rolled up our sleeves, and made a tangible impact. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about working collectively to uplift those in need—it's a reminder of the positive change we can create in our communities. Did you know that sleep deprivation can lead to hyperactivity, anxiety, and depression in children? The bedlessness crisis is real, and initiatives like these are crucial for fostering healthier futures for our youth. What can you do to contribute to this cause? Consider volunteering your time or donating to organizations that address these pressing issues. Together, we can bring hope and comfort to the lives of children. #ChildWelfare #CommunitySupport #Volunteer #SleepInHeavenlyPeace #AlabamaProfessionalServices #NationalBuildDay

Turning pain into purpose can be a powerful step in the healing journey. 💞 Engaging in volunteer work or advocacy, especially in areas close to your heart, can not only honor your experience but also foster a sense of community and purpose. Here's how giving back helps: Creates Connection: Volunteering brings you into contact with others who share your passions and concerns, building a supportive network. Empowers You: Taking action, big or small, can make you feel more in control and resilient. Brings Hope: Seeing the impact of your efforts on others can renew your sense of hope and positivity. Honors Your Experience: Advocating for causes important to you can be a meaningful way to honor your journey and possibly the memory of your lost one. Whether it's supporting others who've experienced a miscarriage, volunteering for women's health organizations, or advocating for awareness, every action counts. Have you been involved in volunteer work or advocacy that’s helped in your healing? Or are you curious about where to start? Share your story or ask for insights in the comments. Your journey could inspire someone to find their own path to healing through giving back. 🌟

Nonprofit Executive, Director of Development and Community Engagement, story teller, advocate, public speaker, event planner, fundraiser, mother, and a person in long term recovery
Ahhh! This is the moment that everything will come to a head! Leaning back and putting my body #overtheedge is going to be so scary, exciting, and nerve-wracking! But I’m willing to do it for an incredible cause! I’m going to rappel to expand adolescent recovery services because I wish a place like 4D Recovery existed when I started experiencing Substance Use Disorder in high school. A place that made RECOVERY look attractive to me. A place where I could see other people I thought were cool and admired who chose SOBRIETY and had a lot of fun doing it! When I was in high school the kids I saw having fun were the ones dropping acid and MDMA, or at the least getting high and drinking at all the parties. But the fact is, with the surge of fentanyl - it’s no longer safe for kids to have an experimental phase like so many of us did! And in Oregon, there are very few resources available to people under the age of 18. It’s time to expand adolescent recovery support and treatment! What an EPIC way to bring awareness and raise money for the future of our world.. our youth! 🔆 I’m looking for local businesses who want to join us as sponsors as we descend into action, raising vital funds and awareness. As well as individuals who want to take the plunge with us this June at the Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland! 🔆 THIS opportunity for team building and corporate partner visibility is unlike anything you've ever participated in before. Plus, you will make a lasting impact in your community. Will you #rappelforrecovery with us? https://lnkd.in/gAvP53VK #rappelforrecovery #overtheedge #sobermovement #soberlifestyle #4drecovery #corporatesponsorship #philanthropy #communityimpact #overtheedge

Boston journalist with big ideas about accessibility, inclusion, belonging, and journalism. Founder and managing editor of Equal Access Public Media. Email me at stacyk@equalaccesspublicmedia.org.
Happy Monday, everyone. The last two posts – especially the last post – gained a lot more attention than I expected. If the last two posts meant something to you or touched you somewhere deep in your equity-loving, justice-movement building heart? Consider supporting Equal Access Public Media. Volunteer. Maybe you’ve got years of experience in the U.S. nonprofit and/or disability world and now you’re retired but playing golf or bingo sounds droll. Wouldn’t you rather volunteer on our board or one of our committees? Maybe you need volunteer hours for another reason and you’ve got a skill you think we could use as we are building right now. Reach out. Donate. Can you spare $5 a month? Or maybe your foundation has been looking for the next amazing project to support. EAPM is it. Or maybe you’ve been thinking of forming an endowment. Hi. We’d love that. Yes. We’re the new kids on the media block, but we intend to change everything. The publications we’ll put out? They’ll not just be the curb cuts of news. We’re going to be the raised cross walks of news with the tactile transitions and the talking cross walk signs that show and say a count. (Yes, that’s a belabored metaphor, but wheh. I get excited.) So if you liked or shared or were really moved by my post on diversity in the newsroom or saying the word disability, I’m asking you to show up for me with EAPM. Thanks. #Disability #Equity #DEIA #DisabilityJustice #Accessibility #NonprofitNews #AccessibleNews #EAPM

Wow. This is powerful. 🙌🏽 Reflect on the last time you assumed someone couldn't accomplish something, simply because…? Challenge yourself to embrace the possibility that individuals are capable, regardless of characteristics or gender or anything else for that matter. Consider how your mindset and way of thinking might be hindering others' growth.

What a spectacularly powerful #campaign & #educationalvideo!! Mad respect for flipping the conversation!! 🤘 It's amazing what can be achieved when we concentrate on what people CAN do rather than the assumption of what they CAN'T do. 🤔
