PITTSBURGH HOMEOWNERS GET READY FOR A METEORIC CHANGE IN YOUR TAXES! In a groundbreaking move, the City of Pittsburgh has launched a lawsuit against Allegheny County, demanding a comprehensive county-wide property reassessment. This legal action, as reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing debate over property values and tax equity within the region. Homeowners, take heed: while the law mandates that a county-wide reassessment must be revenue neutral, the reality might paint a different picture for your future tax bills. Here's why: commercial property values across the county have been on a sharp decline, contrasting dramatically with residential properties, which have seen unprecedented spikes in value. This discrepancy is at the heart of the matter. The principle of revenue neutrality suggests that the total amount of tax collected remains constant, but this doesn't translate to unchanged tax bills for individual property owners. As commercial property values plummet, and residential values soar, homeowners could find themselves bearing a disproportionate share of the tax burden. This shift is a clear indication that our current system, particularly how we fund our schools, needs a profound restructuring. The implications of Pittsburgh's legal challenge and the potential reassessment are far-reaching. This isn't just about numbers on a ledger; it's about fairness, equity, and the future of our community. As this situation unfolds, it's crucial for property owners to stay informed and engaged. The outcome of this legal action could redefine the landscape of property taxation in Allegheny County and possibly set a precedent for others to follow. The conversation about how we assess property value and fund our public services is long overdue. Perhaps, through this bold move by the City of Pittsburgh, we'll start to see the changes necessary to ensure a fairer, more equitable system for all.

Passionate Payments Professional | Fraud Fighter | Animal Advocate | Children’s Education Crusader | Wife and Mom
I just returned home this weekend from a big regional area meet in Pensacola and saw this. Wanted to share it as this is the beauty of cross country and how it would apply if we used that same spirit in our work and personal lives. These are not my words but as a 7+ year cross country mom, they very well could be. —- What if we lived life like we were all in a cross country meet? What if we watched other people and recognized that we're all just trying to get across the finish line? What if we understood that some people are running as hard as they can but battling illnesses, invisible injuries, and internal struggles? Every step is hard, but they're trying not to quit. What if we cheered for everyone even if they weren't on our team? What if we realized just finishing something, no matter how long it took us or how messy it seemed, was enough? In fact, it was a win. What if we used every race as an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and how we could use each other for support, inspiration, and help to reach our goals? What if we cheered loud for the winner, but even louder for the one who comes in after because they accomplished something great, too? In a world that tells us it's about me, me, me, what if we started living to support everyone brave enough to be in the race? What if we started treating our lives like we were all in the same cross country meet? What a beautiful world that would be. Love hard. Whitney Fleming Writes

Wow, can’t believe it’s already been 6 months! 🤩 Here are a few things I've picked up during this exciting journey: 1. Embracing Change: Transitioning between different team dynamics, e-commerce to bricks & mortar marketing, a well-established business vs a startup like Bloc Skincare, has been challenging but incredibly rewarding. 2. Marketing Foundations Matter: It’s been so fun to introduce the team to core marketing principles. Simple campaigns, emails, automation, and brand presence make a huge difference, even if they seem like a no-brainer to marketing brains. 3. Slowing Down (Kind Of): I like moving fast, but sometimes this isn’t always an option, especially with TGA & AHPRA requirements. Big shoutout to Ashley Freeman for being the brains behind navigating these waters and teaching me along the way! 4. Back to the Skin Industry: I’m thrilled to be back in the skin industry, connecting with top experts and reigniting my passion on a whole new level. Grateful for Dr Andrew Freeman, not just as a boss, but as a mentor, leader, and friend. 5. Valuing Open Conversations: Having a safe space for open discussions, sharing perspectives, and being heard, even when views differ, is truly priceless. 6. Proving Doubters Wrong: When someone suggested our website’s Shop space wouldn’t succeed due to market saturation, we doubled our YoY revenue in under 6 months. Challenge accepted and conquered! 7. Lean On Your Resources: It's perfectly okay to ask for help. Most people are not only willing but happy to lend a hand. I'm so incredibly grateful for the amazing people I've met in my marketing lifetime who who continue to support me. Feeling grateful for these experiences and looking forward to what’s next! 🚀

Despite what administration or bosses think, not everything is an emergency. Not everything needs to be done right now. Not everything will get done. And that’s ok. Trust your employees to prioritize those important things. Build a work environment that is open and safe to someone saying “I can’t get it done. I need more help.” And actually work to support those needs. And as always. Check yourself at the door. Everyone is stressed. Everyone is busy. Are YOU pushing too many task on to one person. Be aware of how much and how often you ask for things of your employees.
