Activities commenced with basic jungle skills, developing into live fire jungle shakeouts at a platoon level, with progression to an individual and section level. Fellow Lorne Scots, In 2025, members of the Lorne Scots along with members from other units within 4th Canadian Division will deploy to Latvia as part of Op Reassurance. This is currently the Canadian Armed Forces' (CAF) largest overseas mission, through which the CAF contributes to NATO deterrence and defence measures in Central and Eastern Europe. It is part of the biggest reinforcement of NATO collective defence since the 1990s. In preparation for this deployment and future deployments of Lorne Scots it has been decided to offer Family and Peer Support training for family and serving members. Those who deploy to Latvia will most likely be away for 8 months or more, when you include 2 to 3 months of pre-deployment training and a 6-month tour in Latvia. Deployments can be very stressful for both the member and their families. There is no cost for participants to attend the training with the exception of your time. The obstacle course is designed to challenge the physical and mental toughness of the soldiers and officers undertaking infantry training at the School.
