October is National Substance Use Prevention Month, and the Army Substance Abuse Program hosted a Substance Misuse Prevention Leader Professional Development Session yesterday at the Larkin Conference Center to provide opportunity for company leadership to learn about key substance misuse topics from a multidisciplinary panel of professionals. Sustainment Soldiers are doing amazing work 👏 Sending big congratulations to SFC Elvin Vazquez Meijas for being the first active-duty Soldier to earn the Automotive Service Excellence World Class technician award. To achieve this award, technicians must attain 22 specific ASE certifications in fields like automotive service, medium/heavy truck and collision repair.

#Lastweek, CASCOM hosted a delegation from the Brazilian Army Logistics Command, Oct 3-4, to gain insight on planning & formulating doctrine and policies for the evolving logistics within the Brazilian Army. During the visit, they toured the Quartermaster School’s Petroleum and Water Department, that showcased their blended learning approach Individual Training in a Shared Environment (ITSE), allowing Soldiers to operate in real-world scenarios, the 3-K Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit training site where he tested freshly purified water, and a stop at the Aerial Delivery and Field Services Department to discuss updates to aerial delivery assets. They also checked out the Ordnance School’s additive manufacturing (3-D printing) lab and tried out the virtual welding simulator, toured the 91b wheeled vehicle mechanic training bays, and met with the 91f small arms/towed artillery repairer training department. Maj. of the Army Michael Weimer made his first official trip to Fort Gregg-Adams to visit with Soldiers of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command and Sustainment Center of Excellence, Oct 2, and to learn more about the organization and the installation’s broad roles, missions and functions as well as CASCOM’s robust part in the modernization of the Army’s Sustainment Warfighting Function. During the visit, SMA Weimer met with over 200 noncommissioned officers (student and permanent party) to discuss quality of life challenges, career progression, leadership models/styles, and to answer questions from active duty, National Guard, and Army Reserve personnel. He toured the Quartermaster School’s Petroleum and Water Department, that showcased their blended learning approach Individual Training in a Shared Environment (ITSE), allowing Soldiers to operate in real-world scenarios, the 3-K Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit training site where he tested freshly purified water, the Field Feeding training site to see the Army Field Feeding System, and a stop at the Aerial Delivery and Field Services Department to discuss updates to aerial delivery assets. Maj. Gen. Michelle K. Donahue, CASCOM commanding general and the Army Sustainment University hosted the 3rd Annual Data Education Symposium, Sept. 18.  This year’s theme, “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the Sustainment Warfighting Function (SWfF)”. Over 70 partners from the Department of Defense, academia, and industry gathered to provide input and feedback on data analytics, AI, and machine learning curriculum development and enhancement within Sustainment education.   The symposium highlighted the importance of trusting, but verifying the algorithms used in AI and machine learning. The event consisted of three panels; military, academic and industry.
