I came upon an old armature video repair of a defective 6kw DB Transmitter from 7 years ago, which had a burned-out 800w load resistor, a faulty RF Module, and a burned-out coupler. The repair and troubleshooting were fascinating, as they provided insight into how resilient DB transmitters are even when utilized in environments with unstable changing voltage sources.

Many people don't realize that basic network measurements can be made using a spectrum analyzer and a tracking generator, so I put together a short video showing how this can be done with our FSW series spectrum analyzers. It also gave me an excuse to post a picture of my "vintage" VSWR bridge 🙂 https://lnkd.in/ewDm4yg6

Did you know? Impedance Matching: Coaxial cables have a characteristic impedance, typically 50 or 75 ohms, that must match the impedance of the radio equipment and antennas. Mismatched impedance can lead to signal reflections and loss of signal power, resulting in degraded performance and potential damage to the equipment. Using a coaxial cable with the correct impedance ensures proper signal transfer and impedance matching throughout the repeater system.

We often get questions from #customers about what the most common failures in an #LMR fake or cloned cable are. The importance of knowing the differences between our real deal LMR® cable and an imposter one is critical to ensure that you have the best #quality for your applications. For LMR® cables NOT made by Times Microwave Systems, the most common failures we see are: 👎Jacket failure 👎Water penetration into the cable along the braid 👎UV deterioration 👎Degradation of performance over time due to breakdown of dielectric 👎Cracking of the outer conductor 👎Poor dimensional tolerance of the dielectric causing electrical instability Want to learn more?
