I was extremely honored to be one of the professionals representing SEPTA last week during COMTO’s 53rd National Meeting and Training Conference “Transportation Equity - Meeting the Moment” held in Houston, Texas! Thank you to our GM/CEO Leslie S. Richards, our Chief of Staff Elizabeth Smith, P.E., PMP, our General Counsel Gino Benedetti, the GM team, my supervisor Chief Risk Officer Richard Graham, our Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer Emmanuella Myrthil, and COMTO Philadelphia’s new President Carrie Givhan for affording me this wonderful professional opportunity. Always fantastic to spend time with transportation icons April Rai, Tanya A., @michellehiett and Lydia Grose. I am privileged to have been there with Monise Moses Lorena Rodriguez De La Garza @kenyonbenson @kimberlykennedy @cierrarobertson @maddiechandran. Flora M. Castillo, C.H.I.E., another tremendous transportation icon, was unable to make it, but gave valuable advice, as always! Always great to see my national counterpart @juliabankerd and her team. I appreciate you all! The Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) mission is to increase and promote equity in this critical and innovative industry. There are 40 chapters across the country filled with leaders who are actively working in their communities and nationally to create opportunities for a better and more equitable America. Our amazing chapter won two national awards on Friday evening: our Immediate Past President Daniel Villanueva won the President’s Award and our chapter won the Chapter of the Year!! It was a memorable and inspiring evening.
