Words are never enough during times of crisis or grief. However, when a life well lived has been transcended into the heavens moving beyond our world it is such a beautiful feeling for both the soul that has gone from this earth and those who have been touched by the contributions of such an incredible person. So, for this reason, rejoice and be grateful. Remember the good, remember all the energy and love she put into her life to make this world a little better for all of us while she was here. May we also try to do something positive and be productive so when our time comes we can leave a little mark of our own. My condolences and thoughts are with you all…

I am saddened to read this news. A huge loss in our continued fight for social justice. May her legacy live on and her torch be picked up by the next generation.

I am sorrowful when any of our royal sisters or brothers, particularly, those in positions of power working towards the common goal of restitution and reparations for our people are no longer. I have no sympathy for those of a colonial/slave/Lynch mentality or a Plantation mentality who are in positions of power that sell our people out by sticking with the status quo of mazza as the popular stance of the Congressional Black Caucus has historically played the house nigga ignoring the plight of our people. Unless you people demand canadates in favor of reparations, you are all an embarrassment to our Ancestors and all those before us who sacrificed their lives that we of Diaspora could be free indeed. My hope is that you people will awake and Know thyself that our plight might be known among those who dismiss us and our rights of inheritance and exclusion for over 500 years. Know that your deeds will and have come to light and you will be bound and judged by Divine Universal Law. #RestitutionMustBeMade #ReparationsMustBePaid

It was at the Congressional Black Caucus where I had the pleasure of meeting the Congresswoman and engaging with her in a brief conversation of aid for underrepresented Texans during storm recovery. She was passionately responsive. My sincerest condolences to all who knew her well, but especially those who knew her beyond her influence. 😔🤍🙏🏽🕊

Rest in Power to a social justice giant, US Representative Shiela Jackson Lee of TX ✊🏿🇺🇸🙏🏿 A life well lived and always always always fighting the good fight! 😇 You had me at Jackson! 🤗🫡 “After graduating from Jamaica High School, Jackson Lee attended Yale University as a member of the university’s first co-ed class and graduated with a degree in political science in 1972. During her time there, she was a deacon at the church on campus and met Elwyn Lee, a Houston native and her future husband. Jackson Lee earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia Law School in 1975, while Elwyn Lee attended Yale Law School. After a brief stint in Washington, the couple settled in Houston in 1978, where Jackson Lee began working as an attorney for Fulbright & Jaworski. They shared two children, Jason and Erica Lee. “ - @hou_landing @sheilajacksonlee #threetimesalady #houston #htown #restinpower #sheilajacksonlee #womenlead

My deepest condolences. While I do not live in Texas, I followed her as one of my favorite and righteous Congresswomen. She is and will remain a s/hero. I recently had a Wise Black Nanas Podcast Episode about the Juneteenth Federal. The Congresswoman figured prominently in my research and the resulting Episode. We will miss her voice, and forever remember her contributions to our country. Please listen to www.wiseblacknanas.com.
