🇧🇪 𝐁𝐈𝐏𝐓 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 #BIPT, the Belgian #postal #regulator, has issued a decision laying down the conditions and methods which #parcel #operators should use to #report information to the regulator. The decision was issued following a December 2023 amendment to the Belgian postal law, which introduced new reporting requirements on all operators delivering parcels in Belgium. It was left up to BIPT to decide the exact format and methodology which must be used for submitting the reports. Under the decision, parcel operators must register on the electronic platform BELparcel by 1 May 2024. Every operator will be obligated to use this platform to send their first report by 31 January 2025 at the latest. Any increase might only reflect a statistical error margin, raising the question: do the costs of implementing new payment methods justify the potential, yet minimal, ridership gains? Simply put, if people need to commute, they will do so, regardless of the convenience of the fare payment system.
