There was one thing that always helped me grow throughout my career. It was trying to do what's best for the project. Let me explain. I 👎 at sales. My default operation mode is to try and help (ask my girlfriend, she hates it). Which means, I always try and do what's right for the project. Yes, sometimes that means not offering your services to projects that could pay well. Sometimes it means having tough conversations with founders. And sometimes it means firing yourself from projects that you really liked. But trying to to the right thing for the project always helped me provide long-term value to growing companies. As we're in between peak seasons in recruiting, we can sometimes find ourselves (and the systems we've evolved into) losing momentum. We're confident with troubleshooting, maximizing efficiency, and even finding shortcuts to generate results. But when you've made all the changes you can think of to make, remind yourself that there's no need to reinvent the wheel. Every recruiter has a process. But people only care if you can get them results. Early in my career, I thought process was the most important thing. I had this idea if I could show how well I knew my stuff, people would be more interested in working with me. More and more, I find people only care if you can deliver.
