Un aspetto fondamentale che emerge anche da questo evento è che il #packaging (ebbene sì, anche quello in plastica!) svolge un ruolo fondamentale per ridurre lo #sprecoalimentare. Essere realmente sostenibili è ragionare e lavorare sull’insieme “contenuto/contenitore”.
🇮🇹 #PPWR: IMPATTO NEGATIVO SUL FOOD WASTE E SULLE EMISSIONI DI CO2 In occasione della fiera internazionale FRUIT LOGISTICA di Berlino, Pro Food | Gruppo Produttori Imballaggi per Alimenti Freschi ha riunito in una tavola rotonda i rappresentanti delle principali organizzazioni europee della filiera ortofrutticola che si sono trovati concordi nel ribadire la necessità di un approccio non ideologico e basato sui dati. Il panel di relatori moderato da Mike Knowles MD ed Editor di Fruitnet Media International, era composto da Massimiliano Del Core, presidente Ortofrutta Italia, Luigi Scordamaglia, CEO di Filiera Italia e Presidente di Eat Europe, Luc Vanoirbeek, presidente del F&V working group di COPA COGECA, Martin Engelmann, general manager IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen e. 🇪🇺 📊 FoodTech looks really different in leading European ecosystems! We used DigitalFoodLab's database of European FoodTech deals to compare where the money was going for Europe's five leading ecosystems for 2023 and the first half of 2023. As you can see, they are super diverse, without a lot in common between them. 1 - The UK, France, and Germany have very diverse ecosystems: each with a leading category and a couple of followers: - The UK: food science, and more specifically brands (from pet food to beverages) is leading with more than half of the total funding. - Germany: delivery remains strong (it seems that quick-commerce deals are still a thing). - France: AgTech, notably animal feed (insects) with strong foodservice and supply chain chain categories. 2 - The Netherlands have an ecosystem highly concentrated on Delivery (and a single unicorn, Picnic) and on AgTech (more diverse). 3 - Switzerland: the country appeared on the radars last year due to a single huge deal ($325M) in Atlas Agro, a bioinputs (AgBiotech). By participating in the CUES EU Project, ICLEI hopes to contribute to Consumer Understanding of Eating Sustainably 🥗. The four-year project has officially started and we are proud to be part of it! Our mission? To foster sustainable food consumption through a Triple Change strategy: 🌍 Shifting consumer behaviours towards sustainable eating to cultivate a culture of sustainability and health-consciousness. 🔍 Integrating the most persuasive cues to boost transparency, traceability, and trustworthiness in food labelling throughout the value chain. 🤝 Engaging policymakers at EU and national levels to advocate for inclusive and smart approaches to communicate food sustainability. Together with our project partners (Banco Alimentar Contra a Fome, Tudatos Vásárlók Egyesülete, European Football for Development Network, and Opendot), ICLEI will manage community-led interventions across various #foodenvironments, both physical and digital, prioritising the inclusion of all voices. These interventions will culminate in the development of a Behaviour Change Toolkit designed to promote #sustainable food consumption. Follow the CUES page to learn more!

This year's theme, “𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲” is a goal that the #Food4CEProject fully embraces. 🎯 Through the creation of 5 local #InnovationHubs and 1 Transnational Hub, #Food4CE is helping #AFNs address challenges related to #Logistics, #Digitalization, and #DistributionSystems. Our #KnowledgeTransferPlatform and #MatchmakingPlatform enable #AlternativeFoodNetworks to share #BestPractices, improve #LogisticsEfficiency, and foster new #BusinessSolutions. By facilitating collaboration between #FoodProducers, #LogisticsProviders, and #PolicyMakers, Food4CE is laying the groundwork for a more resilient and equitable food system across Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Poland, inspiring sustainable practices beyond borders. 🤝🏻 On this World Food Day, we celebrate the importance of supporting initiatives that help build fairer, more resilient, and sustainable food systems, which are key objectives to ensure a better future for all.
