I’ve been blessed in my life to have received incredible kindness and guidance from others. That support has meant everything to me, and now I feel a deep responsibility to pay it forward. Internships have become one of the most rewarding ways I can invest in the next generation. It’s not just about teaching—it’s about helping young professionals grow and find their own paths. Their fresh ideas, energy, and enthusiasm have been a joy ❤️ to witness, and watching them thrive is one of the most fulfilling parts of my role as CEO at NvisionKC. I also want to express my gratitude to my incredible team for their dedication and support in mentoring and guiding our interns together. Mentoring goes beyond career guidance—it’s about building a stronger, more connected community. By investing in people, we all grow and succeed together. I hope these insights and recommendations encourage others to find the same fulfillment in mentoring and giving back. 8 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 1. Clear Expectations Early On - Schedule one-on-one meetings early to establish expectations. - Align the intern’s goals with project objectives to create mutual value. 2. Build Relationships - Schedule regular one-on-one meetings not just to discuss work but to build relationships and share personal stories. - Allow interns to understand your leadership style and values, fostering a stronger connection and sense of belonging. 3. A Team Approach to Mentoring - Involve multiple mentors to distribute the time burden. - Provide interns with various interactions to expose them to different areas of expertise and work styles. 4. A Follow-Up System to Measure Progress - Develop a follow-up system for regular check-ins. - Use these opportunities to offer guidance, recalibrate goals, and track achievements. 5. Provide Real-World Training Through Mock Consulting - Create mock consulting scenarios to provide real-world training. - Encourage interns to act as consultants, presenting solutions and addressing challenges in a business setting. 6. Foster a Welcoming and Supportive Work Environment - Create a supportive environment that allows interns to take risks and grow. - Encourage a balance between professional responsibilities and creative exploration. 7. Emphasize Learning and Personal Development - Encourage interns to focus on both technical and interpersonal skills. - Provide exposure to client interactions, branding, and strategic thinking. 8. Show Gratitude and Provide Feedback - Conduct feedback sessions at the end of the internship to reflect on the experience. - Use this opportunity to express gratitude and gather insights for improvement. #Leadership #Mentorship #InvestInTheFuture #InternshipProgram #PayItForward #CommunityGrowth #NextGeneration

Leadership & OD Director @ NRG Vivint | MBA Fellow Innovating Talent & Leadership Solutions | Builder of Agile, High-Performing Teams
I'm a little late but I couldn't let the National Intern Day slip away from me. I absolutely have to highlight Jess LeSueur-Houtz! Lencioni has a philosophy that the best hires are hungry, humble, and smart. Jess is all three of those things. Jess, starts her internship and within two weeks had the entire leadership team raving about her. A leader- to me- is not a title; it is an action and Jess is it. It's rare to meet someone whose name becomes a verb and noun, ie "How can we Jess this thing? Or "how can we get some Jess like energy into this?" Here's how she made an impact over the past few months: 🏆 Hungry: At 7:59am she was asked to edit something by a VP before 9:30am and told it's okay not to do it since it's a last minute ask. She not only got it done way before 9:30am she also had some suggestions how to make it better. 🏆 Humble: There is no task to little for Jess. She is excited to learn and sees every opportunity that way. Our team observed when you give her feedback she lights up and gets excited someone has found a way for her to improve. If you pitch her a project her enthusiasm to take on more work is so big - it's contagious. 🏆 Smart: Multiple times she's taken the initiative to connect the dots for her leadership. She will say, "hey I heard this earlier today do you think that's relevant here?" She's absolutely not afraid to be wrong and would rather ask the question than assume the answer. Congratulations Jess. You up level every project you've touched, every team you've influenced, and our entire team culture. I can't wait for your to start in your new role next week! #nationalinternweek #highpotential #leadership

🌟 Exploring Different Perspectives: Interns vs. Principals 🌟 Hello everyone! Let's talk about the awesome journey from intern life to the principal's chair. 🚀 Interns are like a shot of espresso for your team—full of fresh ideas and ready to shake things up. Their perspective is invaluable because they're not bogged down by industry norms. They challenge us to think differently and bring that youthful energy that keeps everyone on their toes. Plus, their tech-savvy skills are next-level! Now, as a principal, I've come to appreciate how interns keep us grounded in the now. Their questions make us rethink our approaches and often lead to breakthroughs we wouldn't have considered otherwise. It's a real two-way street of learning and growth. Let's celebrate the diversity of thought interns bring to the table. Their viewpoints might be different from ours, but that's exactly what fuels innovation and keeps our organizations relevant. Embrace the mix of experience and new perspectives—it's where the magic happens! #Internships #Leadership #Innovation #DiversityOfThought #Teamwork #CareerGrowth

Enterprise Strategy @ TD | Campus Influencer | VP Finance @ VSEUS | Intl. Economics and Finance, BIE @ UBC
✨ Who should you reach out to during your internship? ✨ Without a doubt, interns are the key to success in your future career – which is why TD organized an entire day of celebration for us, including sweet treats, games, and the chance to mingle! 🍬🤝 But why is connecting with other interns so important? While you should still try to reach out to as many managers, AVPs, and VPs as possible, your fellow interns are a resource much more precious than you'd imagine, for three main reasons: 1. They offer you the chance to learn more about TD's numerous teams/departments. ↪️ Talking to other interns allows you to truly understand what other teams do, including their daily work lives and yearly deliverables. And because information is gold in order to find your perfect fit, interns are the way to go. 2. They are more accessible, relatable, and you will have more relaxed conversations. ↪️ Reaching out to VPs and managers is always a stressful process, as some of us might feel embarrassed to appear too needy or pushy. Meeting with people your own age, who you share interests with, who are going through the same tribes and tribulations of interning, and who are eager to form new connections will lead you to have more relaxed and open conversations. You can discuss personal matters more openly and get advice on subjects you might not want to bring up directly with your management. Interns are also usually less busy than executives, meaning more chances to meet and connect! 3. Most importantly, you will grow into young professionals together. ↪️ No connections are as powerful as the ones we make while trying to find ourselves. Creating real friendships with your fellow interns while you all try to figure out your futures – which is stressful enough – will result in lasting connections. Be someone they can rely on, and you'll soon have access to the next generation of leaders and drivers of change in your community! #TDCampus #ProudToBeTD 💚

“We know we want to drive high performance like other companies, but we're also trying to foster a tech innovation culture. This is connected to our culture of challenging the tech status quo.” 💫 Andrei Perevalov, Head of People Ops at Virtual Internships, highlights the importance of simplifying processes for early-stage companies to achieve a balance between performance measurement and business goals. “That's why we wanted to shift to performance thinking and have it evaluated by both the KPIs and the projects. This encourages technicians to challenge some things and make some tech innovations.” Read the full conversation — Link in comments.

Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders | Early Talent Program Leader | Talent Management, Career Guidance, Performance Management
Happy National Intern Day! 🎉 Today, we celebrate the energy, creativity, and fresh perspectives that interns bring to the workplace. Internships play a vital role in shaping careers and fostering innovation across industries. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of mentoring many bright students as they took their first steps into the workforce. Each cohort has taught me something new, pushing me to grow and evolve alongside them. I've witnessed firsthand the impact these programs have in driving positive change. Interns and early career professionals bring so much to organizations: they challenge norms, ask insightful questions, and drive innovation. By creating meaningful opportunities for those starting their careers, we're not just shaping individual careers - we're building stronger, more dynamic workplaces. Here's to the interns – past, present, and future. Thank you for your enthusiasm, your impact on the workplace, and the countless ways you continue to inspire and educate us. #NationalInternDay #EmergingTalent #FutureLeaders
