For many people we support, the recent far-right protests have roused feelings of insecurity in a place they call home. Some of these people have fled war, conflict and persecution, with no other choice but to leave everything behind in search of safety and security. Instead, they’ve been met with hostility – and most recently, violence - no doubt adding to the trauma many of them have already experienced. Our teams are doing all they can to support our refugee and asylum-seeking clients, reminding them that the majority stand in solidarity against this terror and violence, and that the UK can provide a safe haven to raise their children and rebuild their lives. As a charity working in the heart of local communities, can you help us restore the community values of acceptance, trust and respect? You could use your time to make a real difference to the lives of people who are rebuilding their entire existence here in the UK by volunteering with us: https://ow.ly/yQ3H50SYhmG Or you can donate to help us continue supporting these marginalised communities: https://ow.ly/xYl150SYhte

The violent riots that we have seen unfold across the country over the weekend are deplorable. We stand in solidarity with the people, communities and charities impacted by these violent acts. No one should be made afraid to leave their home, walk in their neighborhood or practice their religion. That these rioters are targeting mosques, hotels housing asylum seekers, and racially minoritized communities, and inciting terror in communities is unacceptable. Their actions do not speak for the communities that we know. We will continue to partner with organisations supporting people experiencing inequity because their race or ethnicity and those supporting refugees and asylum seekers. And we will continue to push for the change we need locally, regionally and nationally to influence policy and practice and address the root causes of this inequity. And to any of our partners who are impacted by these riots, we stand with you. https://lnkd.in/ee5szAG6

It's been a challenging week for many in the midst of far-right riots, and here at CAM we were especially saddened to see CITIZENS ADVICE SUNDERLAND attacked at the weekend. As local charities who exist to help people find a way forward, it's heartbreaking to have this ability limited. What has been uplifting, however, has been the show of solidarity and community as people have rallied round in support, making us feel incredibly proud to be part of the Citizens Advice network. There is no place for hate. As a proudly anti-racist service, we will always strive to support those who find themselves at the sharp end of discrimination. We're also a hate crime reporting centre, just another way that we can be there to support people in times of crisis. We are the people's champion. We are Citizens Advice. #NoPlaceForHate #PeoplesChampion #WeAreCitizensAdvice https://lnkd.in/eSQeQwP6

For anyone else not in the UK or unable to show up on the streets for any reason, please consider showing up in a different way to support those who can fight the fight in person, and provide support to people who are being seriously impacted by ongoing hate. Three suggestions below - two places to donate if you have the means, one place to write. Donation suggestion 1: Stand up to Racism are organising to promote unity and oppose racism and division. Please give what you can so they can continue to organise. https://lnkd.in/d8d7XUgX Donation suggestion 2: If you're someone who likes to support even smaller, project-delivery organisations then please consider sending whatever you can to Springboard Youth Academy who had to cancel a youth trip because of risks to the young people (and staff). Thanks to Amira Tharani for making me aware of Springboard. https://lnkd.in/dv2KK6GK Free suggestion: Write a message of welcome to a person seeking asylum in the UK, which will then be handwritten and delivered to people by Conversation Over Borders. https://lnkd.in/dfQYQ3Pm P.S. For avoidance of doubt, I've done all three of these before suggesting you do. #Standuptoracism #RefugeesWelcome

28 Women have been murdered to violence since 2024, that is more than 1 per week. What Were You Wearing? - Australia National Rally has been created by individuals across every state/city in Australia as a response to this national emergency. I personally have been spending multiple hours before and after work organising the Sydney and Canberra rallies, as well as resources and logistics at a national level. All people working on this project are unpaid/volunteer and want to see real change be made within our government, systems and communities. We want these rallies to be as safe and as effective as possible, and unfortunately to do so certain things cost money. Due to this we have collectively agreed on making a Go Fund Me page to ask the community for help. Where will your donation be going? - making these as inclusive as possible including paid Welcome to Country, AUSLAN interpreters, accessibility aids, etc - extra security as we are very conscious of recent events and how many people (especially women) are feeling right now. - volunteer resources such as high-vis vests, sunscreen, flyers and more. We are not funded by the government and all donations we receive go to our healing groups and other services. WWYW are not funded by the government and all our donations and profits go to providing services for victim-survivors of SA. If you can spare $10 to help, we would be so appreciative. https://lnkd.in/gFDqgPFY

Dear LinkedIn Community, In light of recent events, I feel compelled to address the concerning rise in violent incidents, particularly in public spaces like the New York City subway system. The recent attack on Abu Khan, a 64-year-old post office employee, is a stark reminder of the dangers faced by commuters. It's heartening to hear that fellow straphangers came to his aid, demonstrating the kindness and compassion that defines our city. Yet, incidents like these underscore the need for continued vigilance and support for victims. As we stand together against such senseless violence, I urge you to consider supporting causes that promote safety and well-being. You can make a difference by donating to my [GoFundMe campaign](https://gofund.me/7d1452f4), shopping at my [Avon store](https://lnkd.in/g6uzTk4Q), or exploring business opportunities with [National Business Capital](https://lnkd.in/eZmmzXG6). Your support can help victims like Abu Khan and contribute to a safer environment for all. Let's continue to stand united against violence and support each other in times of need. #StandAgainstViolence #SupportVictims #CommunityUnity #SafetyFirst #AvonDonationDrive #NationalBusinessCapital #MakeADifference --- Feel free to share this message on your LinkedIn profile. Let's spread awareness and support for a safer community.

Recently, a disturbing incident occurred on Ben Kiwanuka Street where a group of former street children assaulted and robbed an innocent passerby. This tragic event highlights a critical issue: if street children are not rescued and rehabilitated early, they may become a threat to society, turning all of us into a potential victim. At Mtaani Foundation, we believe every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment to grow and thrive. Street children are not born criminals—they are victims of circumstances beyond their control. Without intervention, they are vulnerable to a life of crime and violence. How You Can Help: Donate: Volunteer: Advocate: Together, we can transform lives and build safer communities. No child should be left on the streets. #RescueRehabilitateReintegrate #EveryChildMatters #EndStreetChildDanger #SafeFutures

Founder/Director Not Our Native Daughters- Missing, Murdered & Indigenous Women & Girls - Human Trafficking in Indian Country. Subject - Matter - Expert in Indigenous Issues - Public Speaker - Trainer - Advocate!
Indigenous women experience the highest rates of domestic violence in the U.S., yet only 55 out of 575 tribal nations have domestic violence shelters. This lack of resources is rooted in the colonial impact that has kept tribal nations underfunded and underserved for far too long. Victims are often forced to flee their homes, take their children out of school, and seek services out of state—facing an uphill battle to rebuild their lives, address trauma, and reclaim their safety. We urgently need more resources, safe houses, and culturally appropriate shelters that offer healing rooted in Indigenous traditions. This is not just an issue for tribal regions; 70% of Native Americans live in urban areas where these services are also critically needed. By increasing funding for shelters and services, we can help save lives and create pathways to healing. Support Not Our Native Daughters as we lobby for policy change to increase this funding and make a real impact. Donate today by texting "GIVE NATIVE" to 44-321 or visiting our website. Your support will help ensure survivors receive the culturally relevant, life-saving services they deserve. #SupportNativeSurvivors #GIVE44to321 #MMIW #EndDomesticViolence #BuildSafeHomes #IndigenousJustice #DonateToNOND #PolicyChangeNow #ProtectNativeWomen

Over recent days we have seen racist and hate filled behaviour across our communities. What should be a moment of reflection and collective grief following the attack in Southport has been turned into a movement designed to divide through racism. We will not be silent about this. We stand in solidarity with migrant and minoritised communities who now feel less safe going about their daily lives. We stand alongside our team members who bring richness through their diversity. We stand alongside the people in our services who have fought so hard to build better lives for themselves and their families. Our sector is focused on community cohesion and bringing people together. The actions over the last few days are a small minority of people filled with hate. Alongside our Third Sector partners we will continue to work towards a more tolerant and antiracist society. #YMCA #YMCATogether #Charity #NorthWest
