How to undermine your staff with new clients... At first blush this looks like a customer centric approach to a new client/customer: "hey, if you've got an problems at all, you know how to get ahold of me." BUT What it really tells your new client: "This employee of mine, who is now running your business; well, she isn't as good as I am (we both know that right?) and I just want to make sure that when you have problems, I'll take care of you." Let your employees be their awesome selves; and if you aren't confident that's going to be more than enough for your clients/customers, then you should be hiring someone else.

How much do you understand your client? I'm working with a number of firms currently looking for the same type of people. The nature of our market. It's important to not assume everybody is hiring that person for the same reason. You have to ascertain, not just WHY they're hiring for this person, but WHAT exact need they're trying to solve and HOW that serves WHICH objectives. Ask questions, build understanding and go-to-market, completely informed as a genuine trusted partner.

Stop recruiting for a specialist then getting them to do a lead role. Be upfront with what you need And pay fairly It’s as simple as that

In the world of business, it's easy to get tempted by a shiny new client opportunity - even if it means bending our rules a bit. But let's be real, not every shiny thing is gold, and opportunities just aren't worth ditching our core values for. Just the other day, a colleague of mine was chatting with a potential client who wanted us to jump through hoops with some pretty one-sided terms for hiring a specialist role. Over here at GURLER MAE, we're all about partnerships. We're not just another agency on a list; we're here to grow with our clients. That means keeping things straightforward and fair, which is super important for our boutique vibe and keeping our cash flow healthy so we can give our clients our best. This whole chat was a solid reminder that it's not about grabbing every opportunity out there - it's about finding the right ones that really get what we're about and value what we bring to the table. In the end, we decided to pass on this one. Sometimes saying no is just as powerful as saying yes. Do you stick to your guns when it comes to business values, or have you ever been tempted to compromise? #GurlerMae #ConstructionIndustry #People

Question — should you fire clients??? Why would you do that? Because clients are a MASSIVE part of company culture. The right clients push you to grow exactly where you need it. The wrong clients make everything much more difficult than it needs to be, and don’t trust the experts that they hire. I’ve seen it many times. So I ask it again: WHY FIRE CUSTOMERS??? You want customers that are devotees. Ones that spread the word. Ones that repeat-purchase. These are the clients that you need to find, and when you find them, you need to CRUSH it in all domains.

Exciting career update! After building and managing dozens of growth plans, carving out countless territories and comp plans, forecasting (& re-forecasting 😅) the sales funnel…. Where better to take my career next than the leading next gen planning platform?! I'm joining Pigment to build a best in class Revenue Operations function and help our customers do the same! A few reasons this opportunity has me particularly excited: >> I’ve seen firsthand how a collaborative, dynamic and integrated planning muscle can be a competitive differentiator, especially within fast growing businesses and in rapidly changing macro environments. On the flipside, I’ve felt the pain of poor planning and the immense ripple effects it can have throughout so many parts of the org. >> This space is ripe for disruption. It’s wild how many mature orgs are still using Excel… Or worse, paying $$$ for an antiquated and inflexible tool they barely use. I can’t wait to work with our customers who are already ahead of the curve, and help bring the rest of industry along with us. >> Revenue operations has changed drastically over the last decade, from reactive, tactical and administrative to critically strategic drivers of the business. While teams are all at different stages in this maturation, the biggest differentiator I’ve seen here is Rev Ops having a seat at the table and being an equal business partner to Finance with collaborative planning and forecasting. Let's lean into this trend! >> The team at Pigment is second to none. The existing talent investment in Rev Ops and Executive leadership really impressed me during the interview process, and I can’t wait to meet the rest of the team and build upon such a strong foundation. Interested in joining us? We’ve got roles open across Rev Ops, GTM, and the broader business! Apply directly or DM me!

A business development manager's job is simple: to think of new ways of making the business better. As such, he or she must be able to think creatively, have the diligence to flesh out an idea and the ability to see it through.

42 weeks, 42 thoughts: I worry that I'm at the "yelling old man" point of my career. It feels like each week there's a "new hack 'THEY' don't want you to know", or an awesome tool that's really just a scraper wearing a trench coat. Sourcing and the recruiting process should always be built on simplicity. Biggest time saver I've found? Set whatever reminder/accountability solution works for me. Sometimes I need to design a whole spreadsheet, sometimes it's just "set an alarm". Best way to ensure a smooth process? Manage all side - set expectations with stakeholders. Be clear with candidates. Do my job as efficiently as possible. Fastest way to grow the funnel? Check the ATS first, then check the market. Build relationships, don't execute transactions. Greatest way I can help others? Share my knowledge, don't hoard it.
