Care and Treatment at Every Stage.” This year’s theme reemphasizes the need to further prevention efforts. #KHB and #Tianlong are working together to provide an overall reagent solution for the detection of #HIV. This solution includes: Diagnostic Kit for HIV (1+2) Antibody (#ColloidalGold) V2 Diagnostic Kit for Antibody to HIV (#ELISA) HIV-1 Nucleic Acid Detection Kit (Fluorescence #PCR) When we reduce HIV stigma and promote testing, prevention, and treatment for women, we can help #StopHIVTogether. A new study indicates that lenacapavir, an HIV medication priced at $42,250 annually, could potentially be produced for just $40 per patient each year if made generically. This drug, described as the closest we've come to an HIV vaccine, could significantly impact HIV prevention if it becomes widely available. UNAids supports the call for affordable access, emphasising the need for generic licensing in low- and middle-income countries. Campaigners are urging Gilead to ensure universal access and consider compulsory licensing to address this global health crisis. #HIV #Lenacapavir #GlobalHealth

Today is HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day. It's the anniversary of the first official reporting of the AIDS epidemic on June 5, 1981—a day to honor the resilience of long-term survivors and to address the ongoing needs and challenges they face. HIV Long-Term Survivors (HLTS) represent about 25% of all people living with HIV and AIDS in the U.S. With 1.2 million people living with HIV in the country, approximately 300,000 are long-term survivors—those who acquired HIV before the introduction of Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) in 1996. At the annual #ICAR congress I presented a case of HIV-associated CMV encephalitis manifesting as hydrocephalus with myoclonus. Few such cases have been described in the literature. This case was notable not only for its unusual presentation but also because the HIV diagnosis was made once the disease has progressed to a very late stage (CDC C3), partly owing to the fact the patient was an elderly woman with no known risk factors. This said, the patient had recently undergone a lengthy oncological diagnostic/treatment process, meaning there had been numerous opportunities for healthcare providers to test for HIV. It is clear that HIV testing should be offered before initiating any immunosuppressant treatment, regardless of risk factors. Guidelines should reflect this policy to ensure that no more timely HIV diagnosis are missed. #UnitedAgainstAIDS #EndingHIV #CMVEncephalitis #OI #Awareness

HIV testing is vital for health, this is because HIV (HIV) is a serious infectious disease that can lead to AIDS (AIDS) if left untreated. Here is how important HIV testing is to your health: HIV testing is critical to health. Early detection of HIV infection allows treatment to begin early and slows disease progression. Knowing your infection status allows you to take steps to prevent transmission and protect your health and the health of others. Testing also provides psychological support and reduces anxiety. Therefore, regular HIV testing is essential for maintaining personal health and preventing the spread of the disease, especially for those at risk. People can be resistant to HIV infection- HIV resistant Persons/ Non- Progressors. Recently, I was invited to a health training for a new project, while there we had a couple of sessions on public health diseases and management. Everything went well up until we got to HIV. I have just found out that there are HIV Resistant persons, they are also called Non- Progressors. Apparently they have CD4+ Cells that are relatively resistant to HIV, more like latent carriers of HIV, they are able to spread the disease but cannot be affected by the disease for life. Here’s a link to one of the online resources that tries to summarize the topic, -Health Alberta https://lnkd.in/d5srifDq
