🌟Exciting news🌟 I am thrilled to share that I have completed the first three months of my internship, working on my final year project titled: "Designing a Data Acquisition Module for Airborne Wind Energy Systems." This project's main goal is to develop a module capable of acquiring real-time data from the kites used in Airborne Wind Energy systems. Validating dynamic models with the use of this data is essential for designing reliable control systems for these promising energy solutions. This work is being carried out with the LAGEPP laboratory in collaboration with the Ampère laboratory at the Technopole Diderot Roanne research site. What makes this project even more rewarding is our commitment to open-source. Our goal in making the module publicly available is to encourage and boost further research in the field of Airborne Wind Energy systems. I am happy with the advancements made thus far and am eager to contribute to this field of renewable energy technology! #internship #finalyearproject #airbornewindenergy #data #opensource #renewableenergy #engineering #research

This summer, I am thrilled to be working on a cutting-edge project in the field of Energy Management Systems (EMS) as a graduate intern in Dominion Energy. The main focus of my work will be in two key areas: 1️⃣ Data Cleaning and State Estimation: • Utilizing PMU data, I will work on the DataNXT process for efficient data cleaning. • Implementing Linear State Estimation (LSE), which is a nonlinear iterative process to ensure convergence and accurate system modeling. • Integrating power flow solutions using Electric Power Group, LLC’s TARA program in collaboration with PowerGEM, LLC. • Performing contingency analysis to validate the accuracy of PMU and SCADA data, ensuring reliable system performance. 2️⃣ Scenario Analysis: • Leveraging EMS's study mode to conduct hour-ahead, day-ahead, and other advanced scenario analyses. • Evaluating system conditions under various load and generation changes to ensure the system operates within constraints and is prepared for future demands. This project not only aims to enhance the accuracy and reliability of EMS but also provides a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic behavior of power systems. I look forward to sharing updates and insights as I progress. #Internship #EMS #DataScience #PowerSystems #StateEstimation #EnergyManagement #GraduateResearch

May 16-18 were 3 days full of stimulating discussions as we showcased our solar range and recent innovations with live demos, including our Nexans Mobiway Unreel product. Also present was the IECD solar academy expert who shared tips and tricks, as well as explained about the solar academy to interested individuals. The solar academy is a free 55-hour educational program including a 2-week internship, covering the selection and safe and proper installation of the system components. In addition, we also showed the differences between real and fake cables, and presented the Nexans app as the only way to determine the authenticity of cables before purchase, to protect the customer against the electrical fire risks of fake cables. #LibanCables #Nexans #ElectrifyTheFuture #Lebanon #Beirut #Sustainability #SustainableSolutions #Innovation #NexansInnovation #Electricity #Electrification #EnergyTransition #PowerDistribution #SustainableBuildings #SmartBuildings #EnergySaving #EnvironmentalImpact #Powertoimpact #Powertoinnovate #Powertocare

Selecting the Future of Energy Engineering 🚀 It's an exciting time as Kevin 'Meterson' McCall, embarks on the mission of choosing the next generation of #Dual Fuel engineers from some THE COWPLAIN SCHOOL's Year 10 students #ks4. Ensuring that these aspiring talents are equipped with the knowledge of safe procedures and effective methods is paramount. From understanding the intricacies of #smartmeters to knowing precisely what to do (and what not to do), Kev's there to guide them every step of the way. Reflecting on his career, filled with pride. Having spent years with British Gas, followed by a rewarding tenure at SERT, he has amassed invaluable experiences and insights. The journey hasn't been without its challenges, but it's these very moments that teach us the most. He has always championed safety and best practices, and these are principles he was eager to instil today. Looking ahead, we're setting our sights on September next year when these bright minds will ideally start their apprenticeships as #Smart Meter Engineers. This is more than just a job—it's about securing a clean, efficient, and safe energy future. Their journey will be demanding, but immensely rewarding. Let's prepare to shape the energy landscape together! 💡🔧📉 #EnergyEngineering #FutureTechnicians #SmartMeters2025

IESCO Internship - Week 2 I am excited to share my learning experience from my internship at IESCO, which I completed after my 4th semester. This week, I had the opportunity to learn about the Minimum Maximum Load Register (MMLR) in a 132kV grid station and its critical role in effective power grid management. The MMLR serves several key purposes: - Demand Monitoring: Tracks the minimum and maximum load placed on the substation over a specific period, providing valuable insights into peak demand, baseline demand, and load trends. - Peak Demand: Identifies periods of highest power consumption, allowing grid operators to anticipate and prepare for potential capacity constraints. - Baseline Demand: Ensures base generation capacity is sufficient to meet essential power needs even during low-demand periods. - Load Trends: Analyzes historical data to identify trends in electricity consumption patterns, facilitating informed decisions on grid expansion, infrastructure upgrades, and optimizing energy generation strategies. - Power Grid Planning and Expansion: Crucial for planning and expansion of the power grid, as it helps identify areas needing reinforcement, prioritize infrastructure investments, and optimize energy generation strategies. - Energy Market Participation: In deregulated electricity markets, MMLR data can be used to negotiate power purchase agreements, sell excess capacity, and generate additional revenue. In essence, the MMLR is a vital tool for grid operators to gain a comprehensive understanding of power demand patterns, make informed decisions regarding power grid management, infrastructure development, and participation in the energy market, ultimately contributing to a more reliable and efficient power supply. I will be sharing my detailed notes from this internship in the coming days, so stay tuned! If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to ask in the comments section or send me a private message. I am committed to sharing my knowledge and experience with fellow students pursuing Electrical (Power) Engineering. #IESCO #Internship #ElectricalEngineering #PowerEngineering #MinimumMaximumLoadRegister #PowerGridManagement #DemandMonitoring #PeakDemand #BaselineDemand #LoadTrends #PowerGridPlanning #EnergyMarketParticipation
