Selecting the Future of Energy Engineering 🚀 It's an exciting time as Kevin 'Meterson' McCall, embarks on the mission of choosing the next generation of #Dual Fuel engineers from some THE COWPLAIN SCHOOL's Year 10 students #ks4. Ensuring that these aspiring talents are equipped with the knowledge of safe procedures and effective methods is paramount. From understanding the intricacies of #smartmeters to knowing precisely what to do (and what not to do), Kev's there to guide them every step of the way. Reflecting on his career, filled with pride. Having spent years with British Gas, followed by a rewarding tenure at SERT, he has amassed invaluable experiences and insights. The journey hasn't been without its challenges, but it's these very moments that teach us the most. He has always championed safety and best practices, and these are principles he was eager to instil today. Looking ahead, we're setting our sights on September next year when these bright minds will ideally start their apprenticeships as #Smart Meter Engineers. This is more than just a job—it's about securing a clean, efficient, and safe energy future. Their journey will be demanding, but immensely rewarding. Let's prepare to shape the energy landscape together! 💡🔧📉 #EnergyEngineering #FutureTechnicians #SmartMeters2025

💡 Kelly Becker, President of Schneider Electric UK and Ireland, Belgium and Netherlands, explains why recent engineering students should consider the global industrial technology company as a potential employer. "Schneider Electric offers lots of opportunities for young people looking to embark on a career in sustainability and energy management. The roles are multi-faceted, allowing graduates and apprentices to develop skills in engineering, technology and manufacturing," writes Becker. "Apprenticeships tend to be more technically focused, but on-the-job training also allows apprentices to learn softer skills too – and this mix of technical and interpersonal skills supports quicker progression routes while equipping apprentices with the skills they’ll need for future roles. "We are committed to creating equal opportunities for all and are on the lookout for passionate people who can help us innovate at every level, bridging progress and sustainability. Diversity and inclusion are high on the agenda for the UK and Ireland business. We’re committed to building a culture at Schneider Electric that empowers everyone to make a difference, where everyone feels valued and respected." Founder of Engineer a Career 🟦 | Empowering Future Engineers ⭐️ | Chartered Mechanical Engineer 🔴 Project Manager 📝
Don’t you just love our industry? 💙 Why shouldn’t you? The evidence is right in front of you. In August, Andrew Aveyard and Jim Brown contributed to a Scottish Development International article highlighting the workforce gap in Scotland's Offshore Wind sector. "By 2028–30, we will need 1,500 electrical engineers. The problem is, we currently only have about 250. It is all about providing people with bridges to get into the sector to fill that gap of 8,000 professional-level people now." This is the type of information future and aspiring engineers need to know about 🙌🏻 Let’s shout as loud as we can about the projects our industry are planning, developing and delivering 🔥 It’ll push school pupils and students to work harder … School pupils looking at Apprenticeships ⚡️ Pupils preparing UKAS Applications ✍️ Students currently studying HNC or HNDs at college 🙌🏻 Students starting BEng and BSc courses 👏 Future graduates applying for jobs 📤 People from other industries looking to change job role 👈 There’s nothing better than having a goal or end product insight! Future engineers and curious minds… there’s so much to look forward to👷🛠️👷🏻 What projects would you share with a future engineer? ➕ Comment below, share projects 🎙️ I’ll share them with my audience #Future #EngineeringCareers #Skills

This is what real green investment looks like. Job by job, #apprentice by apprentice, project by project. Investing in #hydrogen skills for today and for a sustainable future. #nationalapprenticeshipweek
We’re celebrating National Apprenticeship Week by welcoming our first apprentices to join our growing team of hydrogen engineers at GeoPura. Alongside Siemens Energy, we’re creating sustainable job opportunities for young people while simultaneously addressing the critical issue of skills shortages in the hydrogen industry. The apprentices, embarking on a four-year journey working towards a Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, will collaborate with teams at Siemens Energy, a global leader in energy technology. Siemens Energy has recruited 12 of its own apprentices, who will also work at its Newcastle facility to advance the manufacturing of hydrogen power generation technology. "...people taking on training in hydro-electricity, solar and battery installation and electric vehicle maintenance will now also be able to benefit from the reworked payments." If you follow me, you'll know that I'm an advocate for #greentech and the new industries that are helping us transition to a cleaner environment. While sometimes Government projects might not be as impactful or financially effective as when industry does it, sometimes helping industry like this is a GREAT IDEA. Just like many developed countries, we need a lot more skilled tradespeople, especially in new areas like hydro, batteries, and EVs - so it's good to see Government support employers in hiring & training new apprentices. 💦 🔋 ⚡ #climate #climatejobs #ev #hydro #greeneconomy #greenenergy #greenskills I don't normally tag people, but there's two 'Micks' who need tagging here: Mick & Mick ✌

A new TAFE Centre of Excellence in Queensland is set to lead in clean energy battery technology training. Jointly funded by the Albanese and Miles Labor Governments with a $20 million investment, the Centre will offer advanced apprenticeship pathways, including degree-equivalent programs, to support the transition to clean energy. The Centre of Excellence will: ▸ Deliver targeted training in renewable energy batteries, storage, grid connectivity, and electric vehicles. ▸ Develop training programs to upskill priority cohorts in renewable energy systems and batteries. ▸ Create higher-level apprenticeship pathways, including the Certificate III Electrotechnology and Bachelor of Engineering. ▸ Support workforce training through collaboration with the National TAFE Network to maintain industry relevance. This initiative is part of a broader national strategy to develop the skills needed for Australia to achieve its net zero targets by 2050.
