Happy Hispanic Hertiage Month! The contributions first-generation Hispanic employees make to corporate environments shows that with support and guidance, first-generation employees can excel and go far! If you are an employer who needs additional support with your first-generation employees, check us out at www.firstgenevolve.com! #firstgenevolve #firstgeneration #careerdevelopment #mentorship
Founder, FirstGen Evolve LLC | Empowering first-gen employees to confidently navigate their professional journeys
Before Hispanic Heritage Month is over, I want to take the time to acknowledge and celebrate my first-generation Hispanic/Latino/a/x colleagues and friends who are creating an impact in corporate spaces daily. They are starting and leading Employee Resource Groups, creating Bilingual cohorts for educators to engage in conversation with each other on how they can continue to create initiatives for emergent bilingual students in the classroom, serving as mentors, hosting virtual cooking classes and other cultural events, and so much more! These are just a few of the many things that my colleagues, Sasha Behm Doris Chavez- Linville, M.S.Ed, CDTLF Maria Angelica Ramirez, PMP®, CSM® Irene Castro®, Michelle Otero Tannert, M.S.Ed. Sara Youngbar and others have brought to Renaissance, and I am so fortunate to be able to witness their talents and learn from them. These examples are also proof that first-generation employees can succeed in corporate America, despite their parents not being in those spaces to teach them. If you are an employer who is in need of additional support to help your first-gen employees navigate the workforce and succeed in their careers, check us out at www.firstgenevolve.com! Let's work together to help them discover their full potential! #firstgenevolve #firstgeneration #hispanicheritagemonth

Sherri Brooks is back with our latest #BehindTheData! This week, we're delving into how we're engaging and retaining a crucial part of our community – young Black men (male-identifying participants who identify as Black/African American). Our engagement with young Black men showed that their average number of mentoring sessions was 17% lower than their counterparts, and retention into senior year significantly lagged. ‼️There's room for improvement‼️ This year, we're doubling down on efforts to not just recruit but also ensure young Black men stay and thrive in Summer Search. Our action plan includes: ✅ Conducting focus groups with young Black men to directly address their needs and improve engagement. ✅ Tailoring mentorship and support to increase retention rates, especially through critical transition years. ✅ Enhancing our programming to better meet the unique challenges and opportunities our young Black men face. At Summer Search, our commitment to young Black men goes beyond just numbers. It's about ensuring every participant feels seen, supported, and empowered through every phase of their journey with us. Next week, Sherri will examine how Summer Searchers are thriving! But first, check out this week’s video and blog. https://lnkd.in/esZGS6ZD #SummerSearch #SummerSearcherMade #SummerSearchersHaveNoCeilings #mondaymotivation #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackFutures #YouthDevelopment
