Much of the work to grow & sustain COAA’s (10) chapters is done by member volunteers. Some of those volunteers – at least one from each chapter – gathered last week in Atlanta for a "chapter leaders retreat" to learn more about the organization and discuss best practices. With thanks to Sally Shumaker (COAA-WI), check out this quick video that illustrates the nice blend of work & fun. Watch it here: https://lnkd.in/exPySJdY

⏰ Counting down the minutes until California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO)'s Leadership Summit. While I LOVE remote work, some in-person time will be nice. If you'll be there, drop in for our panel session moderated by Ryder Todd Smith featuring Josh Nelson of Best Best & Krieger LLP (BBK), Dante Hall, ICMA CM, and Chris Sliz. Being in communications, you probably have strong soft skills. This session offers tips on using them to earn trust from the top. We'll share simple things that will help you, your organization, and your boss. (🍽️ Also - if you have any veg-friendly Walnut Creek dinner recs, let me know!)

Love pulling these themes together. Fascinating to take a step back and see what the L&D community are discussion. No real surprises as to what is included, I am surprised by the absence of discussion on AI. Curious as to why - is the hype around AI and learning reducing? Are the AI tools in learning not matching up to expectations? Are those actually doing the work not ready? Are we supporting the business with their AI journey whilst our one takes a back-seat? Or something else?
The blog for April is ready, pulling out the themes from over a thousand messages from nearly 600 members of the Talent and Leadership Club. Things the community have been grappling with: 💡 How to make sense of the learning tech landscape 💡 Ethics in coaching 💡 Measuring inclusion and much much more. Enjoy! Would love thoughts, comments and questions - let's get a discussion going. https://lnkd.in/eM4bGtpu
