In 2021, the The Competition Commission South Africa published Guidelines for the Automotive Aftermarket. The Guidelines sought to address practices and arrangements in the automotive aftermarket that prevent Independent Service Providers (ISPs) from being able to meaningfully participate in the repair, service and trade of motor vehicles and related components. The Guidelines came about as a result of multiple complaints over the past few years in this regard. The Guidelines sought to promote competition the automotive aftermarket. The Guidelines aimed to promote economic access, inclusion and greater spread of ownership by Historically Disadvantaged Individuals. The Guidelines also aimed to promote consumer choice and price competitiveness for products and services rendered. It is so inspiring to see market participants responding positively to these efforts. Whilst the Commission’s effort opened up the market for SMEs to enter and participate in the automotive aftermarket, these funding schemes close the financial gap that was another major barrier that hindered the ability of SMEs to effectively participate and be sustainable in the market. LAW OF THE JUNGLE! Hundreds trucks are blocked by Polish customs office on PL/BY border in Koroszczyn. Even if Russian importer is not mentioned on the sanction list and goods are not covered by sanctions, Polish customs authorities stop the trucks. The same situation is with goods going in transit through Belarus and Russia to other countries, as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan etc. Polish customs officers have instructions given by Polish government, so they must do what they do, even if they think it’s bad and stupid. Exporters from other EU-countries should claim this situation to their Foreign Affair Ministry or Chamber of Commerce. Polish exporters can only go back home. https://lnkd.in/dQnkz_GP
