For this year's Natural Products Expo West convention in Anaheim, the CookIt Media team turned out in force. We spied a plethora of innovative and emerging food trends along with old favorites. Here's a look at what caught our attention: 🧀 Cheddar Cheese Varieties: Remained a perennial favorite both in dairy and plant-based forms. 🥒 Dill Pickle Everything: Grillo's Pickles' collaboration with Boulder Canyon to make dill pickle-flavored potato chips was a standout. 🍕 Pizza Cupcakes: We're seeing more and more fusions of comfort food favorites! 🍝 Skinny Pasta: Brands like Miracle Noodle showcased better-for-you pasta options. 🌱 Chickpea Creations: Chickpeas turned up in a variety of products from pastas to burgers. 🥤 Healthy Beverages: Ranging from pre and probiotics in beverages to better-for-you soda from brands like poppi. Also alcohol-free products and alternatives, matcha, and functional beverages using mushrooms, ashwagandha, and more! 🍄 Meat Alternatives: Especially using mushrooms. 💊 Supplements: An extensive selection, including gummies, vitamins, and specialized products. 👩🦳 Menopause and Perimenopause Support: Highlighting the importance of addressing specific health concerns for this demographic. 🍫 Superfood Bars: Catering to both children and adults. 💪 Protein Powerhouses: Protein products like those from Impossible Foods and Flock Foods continued to be prevalent. 💗 Barbie-themed foods: Best example was Watkins Barbie sprinkles. 🍬 Packaging/Branding Updates: Both existing brands and new brands are spending more here. 🥜 Nut and Seed Butter: Lots of innovation in this category. 🧈 Dairy alternatives: New takes on butter, cream cheese, and yogurt. #expowest #expowest2024
