Understanding the home care industry can sometimes feel like learning a new language. Let's break down the basics together. 1️⃣ A Licensed Home Care Services Agency (LHCSA) is licensed by New York State Department of Health and provides skilled, hands-on care and assistance with activities of daily living as well as socialization and medical transportation. They are often involved in more complex healthcare needs and work under the guidance of a healthcare professional. (Hint - COHME is an LHCSA!) 2️⃣ Companion Care focuses on providing emotional support, companionship, and assistance with daily living activities. Companion care is not licensed by the state and therefore cannot provide skilled medical care. The emphasis is on improving the quality of life and providing assistance with non-medical aspects of daily living. Whatever care you need, our team at COHME is here for you. #Homehealthcare #homecare #healthcare #seniorcare

Auditor | Medical Billing Consultant | RCM Specialist | Helping US Healthcare Providers (Physicians/Clinics/Hospitals/Labs) in their Revenue Growth & Preventing Revenue Leakage.
The main difference between a home health agency and a home care agency lies in the types of services they provide and the level of medical care offered: 1. Home Health Agency: Home health agencies provide skilled medical services to individuals in their homes. These services are typically prescribed by a physician and may include nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and medical social services. Home health agencies often cater to individuals who require medical assistance due to illness, injury, or chronic conditions. 2. Home Care Agency: Home care agencies, on the other hand, offer non-medical assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and household tasks. These services may include assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and companionship. Home care agencies primarily serve individuals who need help with daily tasks but do not necessarily require skilled medical care. In summary, while both types of agencies provide support for individuals in their homes, home health agencies focus on medical care provided by licensed healthcare professionals, whereas home care agencies offer non-medical assistance provided by caregivers or aides. #Billing #knowledge #sharingiscaring #medical

James Mazza, MA -- happy EMS Week! Thanks for the inspiration. 🚑 🚒 🚓 🏥 Let's put this in the world: #MobileMedicine #Fire #Ambulance #CCT #CP #MIH professionals are eligible for all sorts of monies that are outside of "traditional healthcare" -- and some of those, too! Want a raise, #EMS? I found it for you. Are you WILLING to do what it takes to get paid what you're doing? Are you WILLING to set side inertia and collect what you should have been getting all along? All you need to do is lean into the idea that you can't get the same results by doing the same thing. Which do you hate more: Change, or not getting what you deserve? That's the Big Question. FRIENDS ACROSS MOBILE MEDICINE: If you ARE willing to do what it takes, there is money available to you related to substance use disorders; special health needs and disabilities; crashes and roadway safety; medication safety; nursing homes; risk reduction for home health nurses; elderly patient needs; maternal health...and that's BEFORE you even get to the Social Determinants of Health #SDOH. What do you need, what do you want, and how much do you want it? Or do you prefer handwringing about it? (That's OK too, but if that's the case, and we're going to just keep talking -- instead of getting it -- then be right back, I'm going to grab some popcorn...)

As humans, we ALL can benefit from regular leisure or recreational activities. In healthcare, everyone has a role to play - no one role is more important than another. For example; Doctors, nurses, and technicians help figure out and treat a disease/condition. Personal support workers and care aides, provide daily care and develop bonds with their clients which are as life-giving as medications prescribed by physicians. Then, there are recreation professionals and assistants who fulfill an equally crucial health need - that of health, rest, and finding healing and purpose through meaningful recreation. This month we celebrate National Therapeutic Recreation Month!💖 #dementiasolutions #therapeuticrecreationmonth #support #dementiasupport #alzheimersupport #caregiversupport #personcentredcare #familycaregivers #healthcare #recreationactivities

Helping you become a better OT who loves what you do! | Proud #OTNerd 🤓 | 2024 Finalist - OT of the Year | Open to questions and collaborations to help OTs Learn, Grow and Excel! | Owner of Your OT Tutor
What’s as good as chatting with another OT? Chatting with another allied health clinician that truly understands how we roll! Oh. And add some scones in too! Yesterday I caught up with the wonderful Sarah Raffell from Amend Rehab to plan this month’s Your OT Tutor Alliance workshop where we’ll be talking about effective multidisciplinary practice. I know I’m biased, but it will be a great session. There will be memes, case studies and lots of discussion where we tackle topics like: How do you know when to refer to other clinicians? When is it a good idea to do a joint assessment or treatment session? What do you do if there is an overlap of scope? How do you handle things if you think the other clinician’s approach is harming your client? We’ll cover both inpatient and community examples, multidisciplinary teams within the same organisation and what the logistics look like when you work for different employers. This session is exclusive for YOTT Alliance members, but the good news is you can still join for only $25!! All the details you need are in the comments. P.S. Do you have a different question you’d like us to answer? Share below and we’ll add it in! #OccupationalTherapy #NDIS #YourOTTutor #Hospital #SpeechPathology
