Diagnosis A member of your healthcare team will likely ask you for a description and history of your swallowing difficulties, perform a physical exam, and use various tests to find the cause of your swallowing problem. Tests can include: X-ray with a contrast material, called a barium X-ray. You drink a barium solution that coats the esophagus, making it easier to see on X-rays. A healthcare team can then see changes in the shape of the esophagus and can check the muscular activity. You also may be asked to swallow solid food or a pill coated with barium. This allows the healthcare team to watch the muscles in the throat during swallowing or to look for blockages in the esophagus that the liquid barium solution might not show. #RaiseAgainstAutism #PinnacleSaysItAll #PinnacleBloomsNetwork #1AutismTherapyCentresNetwork

It turns out that finasteride can increase total testosterone levels by ~100% I discovered anecdotally. This is a great example of how useful blood tests are to test and verify healthy levels for things when possible. 💈🧪💚 I retook the testosterone (T) and estrogen (E) blood test after stopping finasteride for ~30 days to see if the T and E numbers lowered to normal ranges. Fortunately the current T/E ratio of 8.05 T/E is much closer to my primary care Dr's recommended level of 10/1 T/E than the previous 4.41 T/E, even though I was not experiencing any negative symptoms. Based on the blood test results on and off of finasteride it roughly doubled my total T level (~100% increase) which also caused a large increase in total E. It will be interesting to see if I can reintroduce finasteride at a lower dosage, e.g. 0.25 mg per day instead of 1 mg, and maintain a healthy T range. On finasteride - T/E ratio: 4.41 - Total T: >1500 ng/dL - Total E: 340 pg/mL After stopping finasteride - T/E ratio: 8.05 - Total T: 853 ng/dL - Total E: 106 pg/mL cc HairDAO, VitaDAO, Bryan Johnson, Blueprint
For everyone who takes finasteride to keep their hair it's a good idea to do blood tests at a yearly minimum to make sure testosterone (T) is within expected levels. I'm wondering if finasteride can increase total T by >15% of normal levels? cc Bryan Johnson, Blueprint, HairDAO, and VitaDAO 💈🧪 I received a testosterone (T) test recently to help establish a baseline for when I'm older and was surprised to learn that my total T is 64% higher than the reference level. The top of the reference level is 916 ng/dL and my result was >1500 ng/dL. Fortunately I have no noticeably negative symptoms. However, it's important to figure this out. My primary care physician (PCP) walked into the room and said "Hello Arnold"! 😆💪🏻🏋🏻♀️ My PCP is unfamiliar with the results and recommended an endocrinologist if retaking the T tests doesn't show normal levels after stopping finasteride for 30 days. https://lnkd.in/eQcfeARU

Want to scare your doctor? Say you've been itchy lately Worse at night Seems like it's worst at the armpits, groin and wrists, isn't that odd? Hopefully your doc gets the hint, gets a bit twitchy and washes their hands a few times and gets you started on some anti- scabies med asap. Scabies is an awful condition that will give you biblical levels of itch. Microscopic mites tunneled into your skin So bad you can't sleep So bad you tear at your skin So bad you beg for any relief Luckily, it can be successfully treated. Take your prescriptions EXACTLY as prescribed. The entire household gets treated, even if they feel fine. Block out your schedule because you need to clean EVERYTHING! Hot water, hot dryer cycle Can't wash it? Bag it for 3 days, airtight. Vaccuum the house and car Then wait.... and wait... and wait for the itching to go away. Even if treated successfully, the itch from scabies can take 4-8 weeks to fully resolve as the dead mites embedded in the skin come to the surface. Use Topical anti itch products just to help the symptoms. Soon, it will be just a bad memory. Scabies, the bugs that burrow.

Is the initial treatment strategy chosen for meniscal tears related to the development of structural knee joint changes? The study by Stine Clausen et al. (2023) wanted to seek out whether exercise or arthroscopy resulted in worsening structural knee damage outcomes at 2 years and if there was a difference between both treatment options. Which type of meniscus treatment to avoid OA progression should be opted for? Read all about it in our Physiotutors App!
