We’re delighted to confirm that Co-op Live ticket holders will continue to enjoy integrated tram travel until the end of July 2024 across the full Metrolink service four hours before and after each event. The extension of the initiative comes as post-event data indicates that more fans are opting to use the Metrolink network rather than travelling by car, and as Co-op Live anticipates that over 1M fans will utilise sustainable travel options over the next 12 months. Great service, though needs more trams at the end of concerts due to very long queues. Free Metrolink travel should be permanently included in the price of concert tickets.
That is a great and consumerist choice that I applaud, but that does basically reserve the public transport at certain hours for co-op arena ticket holders only. The trams cannot serve that capacity on top of normal commuters. As someone who lives near and uses the Ashton line I have had my commute times significantly inflated due to co-op arena traffic. Etihad and Man City had its issues but combined with the Arena, am I going to have to leave work early to avoid queuing at tram stops now? Is metro link seeking to expand service? Has co-op considered impact on the area with this decision?
I’ve used the free tram service twice now after deciding to try the Park & Ride stops near Ashton. Journey in to the venue is smooth, with no crowding and was very quick. Journey back to Ashton has been good on one occasion and dreadful on the other. The concerts tend to finish at 11pm. Some extra capacity heading both back into Manchester but also out to Ashton would be most welcome as I’d prefer not to wait 45 mins. Some trams were only two sections (like the one in the picture). Maybe make them doubles Transport for Greater Manchester ?
Great initiative, should be made permanent and increase the frequency of trams when events are on especially if there is a clash with the football
This is a great service, came out of a concert and hopped on the Met within 5 minutes
Later trams needed too for mid week concerts
Brilliant
Ending this month?

3wNeeds a lot more trams at the end of concerts. James concert in June....one tram waiting for thousands of people trying to get back to the city centre so I decided to try alternative methods to get back to town after the gig. The 25 minute walk back to Manchester was OK, however it's Summer. I wouldn't fancy the walk in winter. Shuttle buses are non-existent. Rows of UBER drivers not wanting to take small fares back to Manchester was a non starter as well. (Clearly holding out for bigger fairs) The £25 parking (that's oddly only £10 on a match day) doesn't help either also it's no use if you want to have a night out afterwards. Appreciate some of these things are out of the arena's control. I filled a form in on the website to give feedback on my experience but still waiting to be contacted. Happy to provide constructive feedback. It's a shame, it could be a fantastic experience.
