When you're evaluating interventions, it's critical to ask about specific research on THAT intervention. For example, many companies may use the principle of neuroplasticity as their foundation. And while that's true, how is what they do different? At LearningRx, we're committed to providing programs that are science-based AND research-supported. These 17 peer-reviewed studies (+ dozens of other dissertations and studies) have been performed on real clients doing the specific brain training programs we offer to individuals in our offices. Did you know? Approx. 65% of the population are visual learners and 30% are auditory learners.... so chances are they are sitting in your lecture or lab. Visuals summarize content into smaller, and easier to process chunks, and when you select the right visuals, they offer more comprehensibility than text-based explanations or only audios. https://lnkd.in/ehhknKEZ Medical Educators - turn to Osmosis.org from Elsevier for an all-in-one solution that is backed and built on evidence-based learning sciences! ***Screen shot of a part within our A-FIB video. #VisualLearning #MedicalEducation #Osmosis #EvidenceBasedLearning #meded #pathology #activelearning #selfdirectedlearning

Quite insightful. I feel physiology as a course should be made to be interesting for the upcoming people who might be willing to explore what physiology entails. The current and next generation of cohorts will have to swim within and outside Clairvoyance of virtual reality unlike the older generations. I remember during those days of attending the physiology lecture at University of Ilorin (Unilorin). Most of the early career lecturers then come to class looking sad and disinterested while trying to make us understand the concept of Physiology. Only one of the lecturers in person of "Prof Soladoye" endeavours to make us appreciate physiology through his explanation that's relatable unlike those ones that come to class and read Ganong and Guyton without any connection. It is hypothetically possible it was because "Prof Soladoye" had some training in the UK (exposure factor). I remember when a lecturer mentioned "Pacinian corpuscles" during a class involving sensation without proper analogy. Until I came across the work of our well respected Prof Ardem Patapoutian on touch and pressure was I able to appreciate the role of this receptor when I imagine a situation when Mike Tyson or Anthony Joshua are in boxing fight against an opponent. Say that in a class for example and wait to see how people will react and ask for their opinion. With that you can tell if your class is engaging or not. I understand we don't have the kind of technology we have now back then but most of the time I feel a form of creativity was lacking. I really appreciate how Prof Derek Scott stylishly approached one of his teachings during COVID as explained in one of the physiology news editions using the game of thrones analogy to stimulate the thought process. I am happy to hear the convener of the East African Society of Physiological Sciences (Alagbonsi Abdullateef, Ph.D.) mentioning his interest in making Physiology a marketable discipline in Africa which may enable young people to embrace the physiology knowledge as a means to create a business and non business solutions and services for the society increasing their employability unlike what we have before where some crooks use their opportunity as a means to an end while notoriously negating and preventing the attractiveness of the discipline to students who don't know much about the course. please note I am not soliciting for any social media validation. Your agreement or disagreement is none of my business as well as whether you are impressed or disappointed on the above "concussion of character" . Joor ooo! "Fun ara e ni opolo". just expressing my opinion without prejudice. Cheers!
Playful learning, what is it and is there room for it in physiology education? Read our latest blog by Dr Sara Namvar of The University of Salford to find out how creating an immersive and fun environment can transform the learning experience. You can also find out more tips and advice on playful learning at the #CurrentPhysiologyEducation meeting taking place on 15 – 16 May at The University of Salford.
