Prevention of chronic conditions - how can YOU help? Kicking off a think tank with a bold, hairy and ambitious mission like Cerebris is an exciting endeavor, but surely, not a solo journey. If you read my previous articles and posts, I strongly believe that prevention of chronic conditions requires dialogue, commitment and a problem-solving mindset for all actors playing in the healthcare sector, including civil society.  Dialogue is a starting point, action is what will get things moving and the willingness to have an open conversation, a money on the table talk, regarding what is incentivized today in the healthcare sector - prevention or treatment? Small actions, compounded, can turn into large movements that drive societal change. Think of Rosa Parks, one black woman, who refused to give up her seat in a bus - and how her action during that day, sparked (an on-going) change. So, if you’d like to get involved, please reach out. Particularly to grow the network, increase exposure and visibility, help build a website and a social media presence, but also to engage physically with local players and communities. Among the wide variety of nonprofit hospitals are safety-net hospitals, health systems that see the highest percentage of low-income and uninsured patients. According to America's Essential Hospitals, which represents 300 safety net hospitals, those members represent 5% of all hospitals but account for a quarter of all charitable or free care.
