The nomination committee recommends candidates for the board of directors, the president, and future nomination committees - meaning it would be our job to ensure that the people elected into those positions represent the values, motivations, and desires of the NSCA membership. I take that REALLY seriously - the NSCA has elevated my career in so many ways, and maintaining the integrity of this organization is absolutely a top priority. That said, you can’t get into that position without votes! Award entries - is there an art to it? With just over a week to go until entries close for the Resolution Awards 2024, we've got 5 top tips to help make your entry or nomination stand out. 👀 Read the criteria for the category you are entering. Look at the keywords and make sure you're using them in your entry. 🎯 Be specific! Draw on real examples, and show how this meets the award criteria. 💚 The Resolution Awards are values driven. Have you shown how the Code is front and centre in the nominee's approach? ✍️ Write simply and clearly. Judges have a lot of entries to review, and won't want to read between the lines or navigate lengthy prose. 📝 Make the most of the opportunity to include supportive evidence. This could be testimonials from clients and peers. Articles you've written or appeared in that show your commitment and passion. But keep it simple, judges won't be able to read huge volumes, pick the most effective examples. It's not 🚀 science, but investing some time and thought can make all the difference. For two consecutive years, I have had the privilege and honor of serving as the Secretary of the Annual General Conference Planning Committee (AGCPC) for the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). This holds particular significance as it marks a historic milestone in the Association's over 60-year history. What makes this tenure even more remarkable is the fact that this year's AGCPC is spearheaded by an all-female team comprising Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, FCIArb (Chair), Amina Kaoje (Alternate Chair), Laura Alakija FCIArb (Secretary) and Chika Okoli (Alternate Secretary). This composition stands as a powerful testament to the NBA's unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusivity. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to President Y.C. Maikyau, SAN, FCIArb (UK) for entrusting us with this responsibility and for the vote of confidence. Why does the ICMA allocate 1/6th of its regular executive board seats to international members when they only comprise 3% of the membership? The DEI Death Cult apparatchiks in the ICMA - International City/County Management Association love to talk about diversity, equity, and inclusion. We get platitudes about representation and how the employees of public agencies need to reflect the make-up of its residents. But the ICMA doesn't really believe that -- they only believe it when it fits their political agenda. When the organization allocates 3 of its 18 regular executive board seats to international representation -- everyone just shuffles along and acts like there is nothing wrong. Anyone with an IQ north of 2 sees the hypocrisy here. When the membership of the executive board is dominated by white males -- and actually reflects the demographic reality of the profession -- then it is a MAJOR problem, a sign of 'systemic racism,' and representational accuracy is no longer the objective. Heads they win...tales you lose.
