Placing the very best senior level search professionals with New York City's most prestigious executive search firms
This week I celebrated my 5 year anniversary at R2R Global and naturally it gave me a chance to reflect on my time in the world of recruitment to recruitment. In our Monday morning sales meeting our Global MD Matthew Gostelow asked me for one piece of advice that I’d give our team after 5 years in the business and nearly 10 years in the industry as a whole. There are more than a few lessons I can share and endless war stories but the biggest piece of advice I would give someone starting out in the recruitment industry is to never be afraid of feeling uncomfortable! Embrace it. Take on scary new challenges because that’s when you grow the most both professionally and personally. I joined R2R right at the start as the firm’s third hire and I’ve watched the business grow into a team of 30 placing candidates all around the world. I spearheaded the launch and growth of a brand new business in R2R NYC, built multiple practices from scratch on both sides of the Atlantic and have trained and developed teams of exceptional people. Every time I’ve tried something new, there’s always been that feeling of anxiety and nervousness that comes with taking on any big challenge. But what I can say is it’s been an incredible journey over the last 5 years. We’ve never shied away from taking risks and definitely haven’t stayed within our comfort zone! And whilst there’s always going to be ups and downs, I’m so glad we’ve taken those risks because we wouldn’t be where we are today without doing so. So that’s my one piece of advice after a decade in the industry – get comfortable feeling uncomfortable!

3 years older, and somewhat wiser... It's my 3 year anniversary with Randstad UK! And what a rollercoaster it has been so far 🎢 Joining a new role in the height of the pandemic was bizarre to say the least. Learning a completely new set of skills and trying to get the Tech desk in Ireland up and running whilst working from home was... interesting. I wouldn't change it for the world. It gave me another level of understanding of how genuinely difficult it can be to work in recruitment and how rewarding it is when you finally place the perfect candidate in THE role! Of course, there was a huge shift in the market post-covid which made Tech sort of crumble for a while. So, going through the highs and lows of recruitment within the space of a year really showed me that nothing is guaranteed, and you have to work your ass off in this industry (and gave me thicker skin). In 2024, the future is looking bright! The market is expanding, and there is definitely good things coming down the line. The team in Randstad Ireland is something special, and I am so lucky to be working alongside such hard working, dedicated people who will also listen to me talking about Harry Styles for hours on end. Sam Snook Tom Eaton Nadine Byrne McNeela Claire Lynch Gemma Ryan Philip Cullen Josie O'Connor Cathal Keaveney Conor Dole Jack Liston - I couldn't do it without yous! Here's to Year Four! And if you're a candidate or hiring manager who is looking for tech roles/ tech candidates - please do reach out for a confidential conversation.

15-Year Talent Acquisition Person | Executive Recruiter | Strategy Recruiting @ Chartis | "Parks & Recreation" Super Fan | Humorist
Today is my 8th anniversary at Chartis and it's been a few years since I posted the welcome card I received from the great Daniel Herman on my first day. (I still keep it in my desk.) My grand plan was to stay at Chartis for 5 years because up until the point when I joined the firm, my longest tenure was three and a half years so I wanted to demonstrate some sticking power. Which thinking back on that now sort of makes me laugh since the average job tenure is down to under 2 years. But here on the big 8, I am feeling reflective...so let's be all consultant-y and take a look at my time at Chartis by the numbers. ⏲ In my 8 years here I've hired 71 FTEs. ⏲ I can't even begin to count the number of contractors I've hired so we'll call that too many to count (hey, I'm not one of our actual consultants so get over it). ⏲ At one point in time, I had hired 75% of our #RevenueCycle practice. ⏲ I've served 4 of our major practice areas: Technology, Revenue Cycle, Performance Improvement, and now I am with our Strategy group. ⏲ I've been promoted 3 times. ⏲ OK, I don't travel like a real #consultant, but I still have a miles status in the 6-figures. ⏲ I've directly led 6 people and mentor many others leading to at least 3 promotions that I can think of. ⏲ I've probably cursed in the millions of times and it's one of my favorite things about the firm. heh heh. Dan's wish for me was that I would welcome the challenge, enjoy the culture, and contribute to our clients' success and make healthcare better by recruiting the best and brightest to the firm... 💌 A wish that will never be fully achieved, but contributed to every day. #anniversary #recruiter #RecruiterLife #Big8 **** ⭐ Want to work here, too? Project Manager | Certified Scrum Master | Process Improvement | Strategic Planning & Operational Efficiency | Risk Management & Stakeholder Engagement | Cross-functional Collaboration
✨Pains of being Laid-off✨ Finding a job after being laid off is a journey with its share of challenges, but it’s also full of moments of growth and reflection. Coming from a nontraditional background, I often find myself defending my very relevant experience. I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t discouraging, but I use these opportunities to highlight the valuable skills I’ve acquired from my unique path! When I was laid off in July from UKG, I realized that sometimes the toughest times present the greatest chances to refocus and pivot toward new opportunities. Every interview, application, and networking event has been a learning experience, allowing me to sharpen my skills and gain new perspectives. I’ve also become more aware of the reality of today’s job market. While this transition hasn’t been easy, I’m grateful for the chance to explore new roles and meet other professionals. It helps me remember that “It only takes one yes.” I’m holding on to that statement! My question to my network: - How are you using your resources? - How are you staying positive?

What a great visual highlighting the importance of the journey. Destinations change. The growth and evolution part is what makes life special.
I gave my notice 13 years ago today when I left my previous role at Paychex. I will never forget it. I couldn’t even say I was leaving so I wrote a ‘break up note’ to my leader…and still cried when he read it in front of me. Lucky 13. That’s how I feel today. Lucky AND grateful ❤️ It’s been a wild ride with many opportunities to win, learn, teach, and be challenged. One thing is for sure - it’s NEVER been boring and the path to where I am today with Paylocity has been a blast! Year 1 = Mid-Market Field Sales. Years 2-6 = Mid-Market Leadership. Years 6-8 = Mid-Market Regional Leadership. Years 8-today = Enterprise Field Sales. Sometimes, the road to finding your peace and purpose isn’t a straight one. I wholeheartedly thank these leaders for changing my life. Here’s to another 13 at Paylocity 🤞🏼. On a mission to connect 100 Founding Engineers with their highest impact | Connection is my craft | Full stack parent | Seed & Series A Startups | AI, Web3, SaaS
It's no secret that recruiting can be a grind - 100%. But at Coastal Recruiting we work smarter, so a lot of that weight is off the individuals and instead on the systems we've built (which can handle it!). Allowing us to serve at our highest impact. This leads to more levity, more energy and more creativity in our day to day. And as we've seen - more RESULTS for our founders 💞 . Yes, please! When you pick an agency to partner with - it's not a SaaS product - it's a team of humans. Trust me - you're going to want to pick the humans who aren't burnt out and pushing a boulder up a hill everyday. Go with the team who's using a fulcrum.
I couldn’t be more grateful for our team. Every day, they push me to think about ways we can work smarter, not harder. And every day - I remind them I’m new to recruiting and need all the directional feedback I can get ;) We’ve somehow assembled the hardest working recruiters in the game (if you think you have a strong work ethic, come work with us for a week and you’ll see what I mean…) We’re building unique systems and processes to allow us to scale in a very unconventional way (I might be wrong… but hey, at least we’re trying!) but we don’t earn the right to do this without our team. Their willingness to lean in, test the crazy ideas we toss out there, and always keep the pedal to the metal is damn special. The most rewarding part? Seeing the ‘test’ initiatives we put in production start to work.. in a meaningful way 😎
