Sending compassion and care to anyone who needs this today or whenever you may find it, I am here, reach out any time. I think we are scared to use the word suicide. In case we have considered it, or fear someone we love may consider it. And by not mentioning, it will go away. Samaritans help – Suicide brings all the raw human emotions to the surface, different for each person affected. It brings an end to possibilities with that person, much like any sudden loss. Yet so different. It leaves a trail, a ripple of chaos. Nothing is simple. I write this sensitively and openly having been affected by family suicide and coaching several people from all walks of life impacted with it. I hope it may help help one person connect with a reason to live, or help each person support another and themselves. More in the blog and if you'd like further support, please do send me a dm. #unlockyourpotential #wellnesscoaching #mindbodysoul #mentalhealthawareness #suicideprevention https://buff.ly/48qiGjN

International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is an event in which survivors of suicide loss come together to find connection, understanding, and hope through their shared experience. Support is vital for the well-being of loss survivors. Studies show that more social support was significantly associated with fewer depressive symptoms, decreased grief difficulties and increased personal growth in survivors of suicide loss. #suicideawareness #suicidelossawareness #internationalsurvivorsofsuicidelossday

Suicide Let’s talk about the topic that no one wants to talk about… if you’ve known someone who’s fallen to suicide, if you’ve had attempts or even had ideations yourself, you know how real it is. We know the trauma and the survivor’s guilt; coulda, woulda, shoulda. There’s more that I could have done. Yes, maybe, or maybe not. A decision was made, for however many reasons. Having conversations about this super heavy subject can provide encouragement and hope for ourselves and for others. Lives can be saved and changed. So, let’s talk about it. If you’re struggling or know someone who’s struggling, take action. There’s always another way. There are plenty of people and resources available to assist. Hopelessness leads to depression and despair. Who or what do you place your hope in? Prayers for peace and strength for those of us who have suffered tremendous loss related to this and for those continually dealing with depression and ideations.🙏🏾❤️💙 #keephopealive #suicideprevention #suicideawarenessmonth #hope #justbeingintentional #godsaves

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Having thoughts of suicide doesn’t mean a person will go on to take their life. But it does mean they probably feel hopeless, depressed, fearful, alone. Asking someone if they’re having thoughts of suicide doesn’t mean they’ll act on those thoughts. In fact, it’s often the opposite - it gives them an opportunity to say out loud what they’re thinking and feeling, and to get help. When we allow silence around suicide, we allow it to be stigmatised. It’s time to change that. Have the conversation. And if you’re worried about what to say, pass on the details of support organisations: Papyrus: https://buff.ly/2GtydpR Samaritans: https://buff.ly/2HCJTCJ Suicide Prevention UK: https://buff.ly/3QoArWG #suicide #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #WSPD #MentalHealth 📷 IG: gmf.designs

When news of a suicide reaches us, we often find ourselves grappling with questions: “Why did they take this drastic step?” “Was there no one to help them?” “They seemed fine just yesterday.” These questions reflect our struggle to understand another person's pain and our desire to offer help where it might have been needed. This World Suicide Prevention Day, our “AskTheExpert” campaign aims to address these questions. We reached out to individuals from diverse backgrounds to share their pressing concerns about suicide. Their questions shed light on a subject that impacts countless lives and highlight the importance of understanding and preventing this tragic outcome. Trigger warning: this post discusses suicide and things some people may find distressing. After losing my mum to suicide, here’s some things from my experience: 👉 even if people talk about suicidal ideation a lot or for many years with no attempts, it doesn’t mean they won’t some day do it or try it 👉 it’s normal for loved ones left behind to feel anger towards the person who died by suicide 👉 it’s normal for loved ones left behind to question if they could of done more or something differently 👉 the grief journey has an added layer of complexity which can be tricky to navigate but finding peace is possible Today is a day to remember to be kind, you don’t know what someone else is dealing with ❤️ #worldsuicidepreventionday

People who have felt suicidal will often say what a huge relief it was to be able to talk about what they were experiencing. Talking about suicidal feelings in an honest and non-judgmental way can help break down the stigma associated with it, meaning people are more likely to seek help and open up about how they feel. Talking about suicide will not put the idea in someone’s mind, but it will help make the topic less taboo. September 10th is Suicide Awareness day, lets break the stigma and be there to listen, it will make a difference #worldsuicidepreventionday #listening #talking #samaritans
"I want people to be unafraid to ask their loved ones, 'Have you had suicidal thoughts?'" Rebekah knows the impact of talking openly about suicide. After months of suicidal thoughts and a suicide attempt, she called Samaritans. As she was struggling to articulate how she was feeling, the volunteer asked her, 'Are you feeling suicidal?'. That allowed her to respond with, 'Yes, I have tried to take my own life this evening'. By asking this direct question, the volunteer gave her the space to talk about her difficult thoughts with zero judgement. "Actually saying all of the painful thoughts, all of the ideation that I had, to another human being, actually calmed me down." She was then able to reach out to her friend using the words the volunteer helped her find. Talking openly about her suicidal thoughts, helped start her recovery and quickly after, she realised she wanted to live again. Join us for #WorldSuicidePreventionDay next week, where we're sharing the importance of talking openly about suicide, and help you find the words to speak about it 💚

This can be such a difficult question to ask, but it shouldn’t be. It’s one question and it could result in saving a life. How many other simple steps do you know that could have such a great impact? Be direct. Be open. Be non-judgmental. Be emphatic. And above all, Be there for someone. #suicideprevention #suicidepreventionday #tacklestigmaregardingsuicide
