The article on how to lead across siloed organizations effectively addresses the challenges posed by working within siloed team structures. I agree with this assessment, as silo mentality can indeed be pervasive in many Asian workplaces, hindering collaboration and innovation. It's crucial for leaders to recognize and actively work to break down these silos to foster a more cohesive and effective organizational culture.

Take a look at my latest Human Capital Leadership article, "The Power of Hidden Teams: How Leaders Can Enable Emergent Collaboration to Drive Innovation." From the conclusion: "As digital platforms and workplace cultures continue enabling faster, looser collaboration, hidden teams will only grow in importance. Those organizations that learn to proactively identify, understand and support the value created by these grassroots networks of innovators will be best positioned to adapt and thrive in today's rapidly changing environments. By walking the balance of encouragement without direct mandate, leadership can tap distributed passion and creativity to spread and scale impact across silos. Hidden teams represent an often overlooked but potent source of competitive advantage for enterprises wise enough to recognize their power. With strategic enablement, these informal groups will flourish as key drivers of organizational success." Take a look at the full article and leave your comments below! https://lnkd.in/gpVGqs3P

I help STEM leaders improve retention and ingenuity! | Inclusive Leadership Expert & Executive Coach | Join my email list to learn about leadership & workforce development in STEM 👇🏼 Let's thrive. Together.
I debated about what I wanted to put in my out of office message this week, but I decided to just be honest. We spent two days in the hospital with one of our kids this weekend (they’re ok now!), and I’ve got a jury summons for tomorrow. The impact of these two incidents is that I’m not going to be very present for a couple days. Some people may think my message is a bit too much information. As leaders we’re often told to be strong, to shield our followers, to be the brave face. But… life happens! Research shows that when leaders are honest and show their own humanity, it gives space for other organizational members to bring their realities into the workplace. When team members feel safe to be their whole selves at work, engagement and productivity increase. My reality is that I am a mother, and I am engaged in my civic duties - neither of those things disappear when I come to work. Part of what I do is help organizations build engagement through positive culture change. 🔎 So this week I opted for the vulnerability I hope to see leaders show in their own organizations. 🍵 This week showing up as my whole self involves a lot of caffeine and chocolate, and taking breaks to cuddle my sick kiddo. 💗 This week I'll be slow to respond, and I asked for the grace we all deserve to be given by our colleagues. Tell me in the comments - what do you do to create space for your colleagues to come to work as their whole selves? P.S. We’ll be talking about some of these issues, in particular how they impact women leaders, in my upcoming I AM retreats in Boulder and Denver - link in the comment section! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I'm Dr. AJ Lauer, owner of Thriving Ibis Leadership Solutions. Leading by Listening in Facilities and Operations In today's fast-paced work environment, the key to effective leadership in Facilities and Operations is not just about making decisions but truly “listening” to our teams and stakeholders. Over the years, I’ve learned that the best insights often come from those on the front lines. By engaging in open dialogue and fostering an environment where every voice matters, we can identify challenges and innovate solutions that drive success. Here are a few ways in which listening has shaped my approach: 1. Empowering Teams: When team members feel heard, they are more engaged and motivated to contribute to our collective goals. Their feedback can lead to surprising and valuable insights that improve our operations. 2. Enhancing Problem-Solving: Listening to diverse perspectives allows us to tackle problems more effectively. Every challenge is unique, and together we can brainstorm creative solutions that benefit everyone. 3. Building Trust and Relationships: Transparent communication cultivates trust. When our teams see that their opinions are valued, it strengthens our relationships and improves collaboration. As we continue to navigate challenges in Facilities and Operations, let’s remember that leadership is about more than just directing—it's about fostering a culture of listening and learning. I invite my peers and colleagues in the industry to share your experiences: How has listening influenced your leadership journey? #FacilityManagement #Leadership #OperationsExcellence #Teamwork #ListeningLeaders

Keynote Speaker | Author | Unleash the full potential of your team through the historical power of empathy
Here are some things you should know about my keynote talk... I haven’t climbed Mount Everest. I haven’t survived a shark attack. And I’ve never been to space or competed in the Olympics. BUT, I did dedicate 10 years of my life to researching how business leaders can transform their teams from disengaged, complacent workers into motivated and inspired contributors who are ready to run through brick walls for their leaders and the company. In the process, I uncovered an incredible story of empathetic leadership that I guarantee you've never heard of. I've turned that story into a unique 4-part framework designed to help you boost employee retention, productivity and job satisfaction. Let me show you how to lead with empathy. Let me show you how to create a culture where collaboration thrives, and everyone is eager to drop what they’re doing to support one another.

Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer: I build amazing teams, emphasize the importance of culture and deliver transformational outcomes. 🚀
"What's your number?" This week, I had the privilege of connecting face-to-face with my team during our quarterly PDSA. In the fast-paced world of healthcare leadership, these moments have become invaluable opportunities for growth and reflection. One striking revelation emerged: the evolution of our team's perspective on work-life integration. We've always started our meetings with a simple question: "What's your number?" Team members would rate their overall state on a 1-5 scale. But something remarkable has happened over the last year as our team has organically developed a new approach: "My personal score is X, and my professional score is Y." This subtle shift represents a profound understanding of how our work and personal lives are intrinsically linked. It's a testament to the culture of openness and authenticity we've fostered. By acknowledging this duality, we've unlocked a new level of mutual support and empathy. It allows us to: · Extend grace during challenging times · Share our own journeys, strengthening team bonds · Provide targeted support where it's needed most This simple practice has become a cornerstone of our leadership culture. It's not just about numbers; it's about recognizing the whole person behind each team member. To all leaders looking to transform their organizational culture: Start by quantifying "your number" in both personal and professional contexts. It's a small step that can lead to significant positive change. Are you ready to take your leadership culture to the next level? How do you balance personal and professional well-being in your team? I’d love to hear your thoughts below! #LeadershipCulture #WorkLifeIntegration #HealthcareLeadership #AuthenticLeadership #TeamCulture
