Breaking news: tomorrow Friday May 10 at 1 PM PDT (4 PM EDT), we are having our inaugural "Corporate Giving Chat Fest". While we hope to do these in person in the future, the event tomorrow will be virtual. It's free and all we do for one hour is talk about anything and everything Corporate Giving, Sponsorships, Employee Volunteerism, Corporate Foundations etc etc. Join us. Here's the link. https://lnkd.in/gZ4kt3CQ Just two rules: 1. you share your name and organization and 2.) you participate by asking questions, sharing your experiences which means we can see your smiling face. See you tomorrow and for those on the east coast, I bet there's a cold beer or glass of wine that you'd like to bring to the meeting. :) It's almost 5 o'clock.

Let's continue the Volunteer Appreciation topic with more ideas! As noted last week, acknowledging and recognizing the volunteers of your community or organization needs to be constant. Consider these ways: - List volunteers in the community newsletter - Acknowledge a committee or particular volunteer at a Board meeting - Hold a volunteer appreciation event - Hang photos of the volunteers in the clubhouse - Highlight the work and time with photos and videos at the annual meeting What other ways do you acknowledge your volunteers? #tiptuesday #volunteerappreciationmonth

855 volunteer hours? Yay me? 🤷♂️ That's just under 36 24-hour days, and the equivalent of 107 8-hour workdays. As I reflect on another year gone by and focus on what I want out of 2025, a lot of my resolutions are related to this chart. It doesn't mean I am ashamed of the total number of hours I gave away--I love all of these organizations and BLD Southeast required me to run double duty as the host. But as I reconcile what was a difficult 2024 in sales (for most of us), I see opportunities to focus more in the new year. ➡️ I will say no to any new commitments that don't pay me or feel like they bend the arc of the moral universe towards justice. ➡️ I will find some funding to turn some of the B Local Georgia time into paid work growing the B Corp community in Georgia. ➡️ I will decrease the majority of my charitable giving to offset the financial cost of my volunteer time. ➡️ I won't lose focus on Profitable Purpose Consulting, and will put my business before everything and at the center of my strategic planning. ➡️ I will politely decline collaborations that feel one-sided. ➡️ I will politely decline unpaid speaking engagements that require time & effort for "access" to a room. I've done a TEDx and spoken at conferences around the world, and that's a valuable skill. ➡️ I will continue my work to make the world a better place, one hour at a time. OK, I spoke it into existence, now it's time to actually follow through. Happy 2025, y'all!

Emphasize how their work connects to the organization’s larger mission. 2. Encourage volunteers to share their experience with other members of your organization and their friends. 3. Consistently recognize and celebrate the work of volunteers.
